Question I need opinions on possible causes...

I have a bone stock 2002 L with 17K miles. When I get into it at 3/4 throttle the engine begins to stutter. If I push it to WOT then it will usually pass thru it and pick back up again. If I back off and then go back to 3/4 then it usually doesnt do it. This is very consistent. Hot engine or cold, it doesnt matter. Warm or cold outside, no difference. I am just looking for a little information to take to the dealer so I can be informed on what they should be looking for. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

When was the last time you changed your fuel filter?

Either a plug, fuel filter, coil pack or oil on the mass air meter

Is the vibration/shutter felt in the steering wheel or the whole vehicle or both?

I have never replaced the fuel filter and the stuttering feels like when a carburator acclerator pump quits working. Other than this the truck starts and runs perfect.

I have changed my fuel filter twice. My 01 has 17k. I look at it as insurance against going lean. Some do it every oil change.

I am having the same problem with my 2000 L. I am at about 37000 and I am not sure if the fuel filter has ever been changed. Does anyone have instructions on how to change this thing? I just got my L and I am not too familiar with it yet. Thanks for your help guys!

Exclamation Filter Changed, Still have problem

Ok, I changed the fuel filter and the problem is still there. No better, no worse. More suggestions? By the way I also changed the fuel filter on my wifes 01 Exp. and it made a huge difference!

Plugs! - check you plugs. I'd bet you have a loose plug. I have a plug that was backed halfway out, third back on the passengers side. I felt no difference in the throttle until I was 90%+ on the long pedal! ?!
Good Luck,
john
