Winter Tires

With the first frost on the ground, it's time to start thinking about winter.

After 4 seasons (~30,000 miles), my 225/70-16 Bridgestone Winter Dualer DM-Z2's are worn down below the 'matrix' rubber, even though there is good tread left, they wern't doing it at the end of last season. I called Tire Rack (where I got them for $628 mounted on 16" Navigator wheels, shipped, in 1999) and they want $99/each + $8 shipping each for exact replacements. They have the new Blizzak DM-Z3's for $103/each, but the only size close is 235/70-16. Goodyear's site sez the F1's are 28.4" in diameter. Bridgestone sez the 225's are 28.5" (although they stand a lot taller then the F1's off the vehicle), and the 235's are 28.9". Think this will cause a speedo/ABS problem? Am I better off with the taller/wider tire?

Is there anything better out there? Does anyone know of any better deals on Bridgestones?

All of those tires you mentioned are virtually the same size and shouldn't affect the speedometer reading. You can use this website to compare differences between tire sizes and how it affects the speedometer.

F1's - have run them year round since 1999 on two vehicles.
