How hot the EGR gets from the exhaust?? The reason I ask is Phenolic has an operating max. temp around 250*F and I am going to order some material and make an EGR spacer if it doesn't get to hot.........
EGR temp is at least as hot as your header temp. , as for the phenolic inbetween the EGR, it would be easy as hell to do. But why not do what I did ,take the entire EGR off altogether and cap both sides....
I would but it is required here in AZ for emissions. They look for it and it is an automatic fail if it is not there. But then again that is every two years for emissions. I just figured if the exhaust temps didn't exceed 250* it would be easier to put a spacer there. What did you use to cap off the header and intake????? And by the way how are those BERU plugs?????
Berus are excellent, perform like a TR6 and a Denso iridium put together. The plug on the header is a brass cap, 8 bucks at ace hardware. The plate on the upper I make out of aluminun. If you want Ill make you one. The bolts I use stainless header bolts, looks real nice. 15 minute mod, no problem.
Hey that would be great, I appreciate it, Thanks. Yeah after you told me to remove it I thought about it more and thought I could always put it back in before emissions. I will have to try the BERUs now, where can I get some and which ones??? My address is: Scott Seminara 109 E. Garfield St. Tempe, AZ. 85281.
If it cost anything let me know....

I have no idea if the check engine light will come on but my guess would be no. The only issue is if you live in very, very cold area it does help eliminate detonation but sense I live in AZ I don't have that problem. It is more of an emissions thing for cleaner air than anything.
Also, for extremely lazy people..... you can just disconnect and plug the vacume line running to the EGR valve, and it will stay in the closed position preventing exhaust gases from entering the manifold.
cpeapea,
Some say yes, some say no.
LOT'S and LOT'S of conflicting info on the net reguarding EGR.
I personally think that anything you do to reduce the heat going into the intake is a good thing.
It probably doesn't really make a big difference, but I vote for disconnecting it.
And if you completely take it off and cap it off, that's one less thing in the way of the plug change
