slicks!!! pros & cons
ok last night i ran the lightning down teh track for the first time and pulled a 14.2@98 but my 60' was like a 2.6 i dont know if it was because of orlando track bening so slippery lol everyone calls it the ice skating rink but i was wondering if the lightning could run good with out breaking anything by jsut slappin on some slicks??
Pro.
Hook up like crazy off the line if the track is 1/2 decent
Con.
If they have thin sidewalls you can feel the rear end sway wide to side near the end of the track.
Turn VERY VERY slowly at the end of the track (on the way back) remember No sideway strength.
You need Drivesahft loop and Traction bars to run them. (key word being NEED)

Pro's: Better traction, less wear on your street tires.
Con's: You will have to be wheels and slicks.
For a street truck with occasional track duty, Nitto 555R's work ok and you can run them all the time.

If your truck has bolt ons and no stall, my advice would be to go with Nitto Drag Radials 305/40/VR18. They 'll mount on your stock wheels, last 10K-15K miles depending on your driving habits, and HOOK their a$$es off
I've run 12.40's on 'em with a 4lb lower, bolt-ons, and single program chip on pump gas in good air(mid 60*s). Bottom line: They work.
