Angry Getting confused about X-plan.

I was at the Ford dealer today looking at the DSG L they had. The guy that sold me my car came out and started talking about the L. Well I asked him what kind of deal he can give me on it. He said he didn't know because it was a L. I asked him about a X-Plan and he said sure and asked for a code or something. I asked what he ment and he said that the only way to get a X-plan is for me or a member of my family to be working for a company that supplies stuff to Ford. Anything from window seals to engine parts etc.

Im now offically confused, what the hell is he talking about and would someone PLEASE explain the x-plan to me clearly.

He said I would save more with a A-plan instead.

Please help!!!

"A" plans are for Ford employees only.

"X" plans are given to some Ford employees and they can give them to others.

The saleman was referring to "Associations" that have an agreement with Ford because they are suppliers or are 'associated' with Ford. I got my X plan thru the EAA(Experimental Aircraft Association) by becoming a member. This was back in 2001. They now require you to be a member for a minimum of a year before they will issue you the required(by the dealer) PIN which allows the dealer to offer you the X plan price. Btw, it's entirely up to the individual dealer as to whether they accept a X plan.

Big Man,glad to see you pursuing this!

What LRod said, plus I've seen on this site that Variety Club (charity) contribution ($?) can get you xplan. Check into this, do some good for others and get charity tax deduction. Another avenue: go to Ford site, go to "investor relations",tell them you are interested in their stock due to new F150 and new Mustang that's coming, but have never owned a Ford. Understand they have something called an Xplan that allows you to buy a Ford vehicle to evaluate. One of those should work! Wioth xplan,,you don't pay those outrageous "doc fees" that run $250-500. Those are pure profit for the dealership owner! Last option, go eBay Motors, search Ford Lightning. You should find Dean Stallings Ford in Oakridge, Tenn. who advertises L at about $1000 above xplan, but say no doc fees. They usually have every color, so tell them you will buy at xplan price, they may well do it! They are just outside Knoxville, Tn. so if you're in E. Kentucky, wouldn't be much of a trip. Have them fax you a "manager approved" sales contract with prices and any fees. If you agree, have them overnight you the actual contract (faxes aren't legally binding), Give them credit card deposit, and arrange to pick it up. You should pay NO sales tax to them, but to your state when registering the L.

Whoa, Oak Ridge, TN is not that far from Clarksville, I go down there all the time so getting to him should be no problem.
I found him an eBay he's already selling 04's!

Well I e-mailed them and they have the color L I would want and they will let me have it for the x-plan. I don't know if they still need a code or if they'll just give me the plan. I just e-mailed them back asking them to fax a contract for me to look over.

Man I'm starting to get happy.

Big Man, the key is"will they sell at

x plan price"? If you sales contract proposal is right price. Need to ask members on here for correct price. If they're selling 04's, remember previous advice and get 04 at xplan price. 03 at xplan price not that great if 04's are available. 03 is "last year's model". You haven't arranged to sell your Mazda yet have you? Can you financially handle not having sold your car and not knowing how much you will get for it, or even if anyone is interested in it? Proverbial "good news/bad news"! Good you can get L at xplan because car sales are down, bad is unloading your present car for same reason. As I said before leftover 03's should be about $1500-2000 less than xplan. Ford offer incentives to move left over models. There are knowledgeable people on this forum who can give you specific info on this. If I may say so, you seem to be way too emotional about this to handle in calm business-like professional manner! You are a car salesman's dream! Suspect this is how you paid list price for last 2 cars! Slow down!

Your right, Im going to slow down and work on getting my car sold first. I would put it on autotrader but they only let you pay by credit card and I don't have one. Don't know if I want one eather because of the way my parents get screwed by them.

I got a e-mail back from that dealer, he sent a invoice and it has a x-plan listed for 28.5K

Ok, I must slow down and breath deeply.:o

Big Man, now you're thinking!

Invoice sounds about right. Was that for 03 or 04? See my previous posts about this. Don't need to know about your parent's credit card experiences, but you are finding out life can be inconvenient and difficult without one. It's all about having the discipline to not get carried away! Better to pay off balances every month. If I were to have only 1 credit card it would be American Express because it forces you to pay balances every month, plus you earn great travel points. However, some businesses don't like to pay Am Ex 4%, so they only accept Master Charge or Visa. If you get stiffed on a purchase, didn't receive it , poor quality, didn't work, etc, AmEx resolves these issues much easier, but can be done with other credit cards! Also, you really need one in case of emergencies. If you paid off car loans and curently have one on your car, it should be fairly easy to get one. You really need to shop for interest rates and terms. Search sites like www.bankrate.com & www.eloan.com for best deal. Like I've said before, get in the habit of doing your homework and shopping carefully before you buy. You'll have a lot more money in life if you do! Something to consider, the new Gen. 3 lightning will come out in about a year from now. Obviously based on new 04 F150, but could be in $40,000 MSRP range if 500hp/500torque specs hold up. All 99-04 Gen. 2,s will take huge depreciation drop then. It happened to Gen 1 when Gen 2 came out in 99! You might be better off paying off your car within the next year. Then you'd be able to handle the big price jump because of equity in your current car which you'd own free and clear. Whatever your decision, I'd get that credit card now before buying anything! Use it carefully, considering each purchase just like writing a check, the money is gone. DO NOT GET A DEBIT CARD THAT LOOKS & WORKS LIKE A CREDIT CARD,BUT PULLS MONEY FROM YOUR CHECKING ACCOUNT. IF IT GET LOST, STOLEN, OR SOMEONE JUST GETS YOUR NUMBER SOMEHOW, YOU CAN BE WIPED OUT OF YOUR CHECKING ACCOUNT. THE FRAUD PROTECTION YOU HAVE WITH CREDIT CARDS, DOESN'T APPLY TO DEBIT CARDS!!! Good Luck!

That invoice was for a DSG 04 L they have.
I do know I would need a credit card because when I get a L I will mod it like everyone else and Im sure most places to buy mods from only take credit cards.
I forgot about the Gen 3 L next year. I don't know if I want to pay 40K-45K for a 500HP truck. Then again do I need a 500HP daily drivin truck, be nice but knowing I have 500HP at my right foot, I would probly do something stupid. Anyways, I'm half and half about how I like the new F-150 style, maybe if I was around them long enough they would grow on me. So it depends on how the Gen 3 L will look and its price that I will decide if I get one or not. Beside I like the look of the current gen L so much I drool violently everytime I see one.
I figure, bacuse of my new job, if I pay 1K a month on my car I can get it payed off in 8 or 9 months. Of course it will leave very little money for my poket.
Oh well Im still thinking.

This is alittle off topic but a few weeks ago I was heading north on I-24 from tenn. when I see easterisland passing me. Well I flooded my car drooling so much.

Big Man, your thinking is getting better

all the time. glad to hear you'd get xplan pricing for 04! As for your right foot getting you into trouble on a 500hp (Gen 3), if you chose to do something stupid, you can get into just as much trouble with a 380 hp truck, plus whatever mods you add! You, not your truck will get you into trouble! I understand mixed feelings about 04 F150 looks. I do like the interior & new technology though, especially the Lariat with floor shifter I saw. What I said about Gen 2 depreciating steeply when Gen 3 comes out still holds. Anybody who bought an 03 or 04 will get hit worse, proportionally. Taste however is a personal thing! If you like Gen. 2 better than 04 F150, that's your choice. Especially if economy improves, it'd be doubtful you could get an xplan on Gen 3 Lightning. BTW it'd only take $700 a month for next 12 months to pay off $8400 on your current car, not $1000 a month. Those kind of math skills will cost you a lot of money! Good Luck with whatever you decide!

Well, I got a e-mail back from Ford investor relations. They will give me a x-plan but I need to fill out a application and send it in with proof of stock ownership. I suppose that means I need to own the stock first???

I e-mailed Dean Stallings again to ask if they can give me a x-plan or do I need a pin #. They replied saying this:
"29977.00. Let me know if you want one."

BTW, I found out that I can send a check in for Variety Club instead off getting a credit card. I know I need one but Im going to wait a little first.
