Virginia Tuning?

Hey Guys,

I have searched and searched and read and read, I am still confused, maybe I'm just slow or something......I NEED Some advice.

I need to get the Diablo chip in my truck reburned. My problem is that the dynochart that came with my truck was really lean and I want to have it checked out ASAP. The truck has a 6lb lower, K&N filter kit, accufab throttlebody, full exhaust, electric fan kit and the diablo chip.....The problem I am having is finding a tuner that can do what i need. The place where the truck was originally tuned says they put the widband in the tailpipes. Is that OK??? The other place that I have heard good things about is Woodbridge Dynotech, he actually uses the exhuast bungs for the wideband, but he uses Autologic chips not Diablo. What are my options at this piont? Do I just order a chip from PSP, JLP, or JDM or somebody like that? Send mine off for a reburn? Get it dynotuned at one of these places? I'm up for any suggestions..........I am willing to drive somewhere to get it tuned if that is what it takes. I just don't know where to take it.

Thanks in advance for any help,
Chris

Any of the tuners can give you a great mail order chip. Excessive should be able to reburn the Diablo Chip I would think, there is a guy in Richmond that can burn diablo chips.

You truck has a setup like my old one. Sal (PSP) could give you my old programs that work VERY well int he VA air...

Chris, you can get a close tune from any of the vendors. They will work fine, but if you can get a custom dyno-tuned chip for your combo, you will be much happier with the results.

Chris,

Excessive in Manassas can dyno your truck and burn a Diablo file to get your desired results. You setup sounds like many they have done. They also do the JDM superchip if you desire. Also, Excessive in Manassas is of no relationship to any other Excessive you may have heard of.

Call Torey, 703-331-1422

Thanks for all the replys guys......

Do you guys think its OK to get the widband readings off of the tailpipe? I have heard it can be almost a point off in the A/F readings?

Brian,

I actually talked to Torey the other day and he said they could do it.......I was just wondering why the truck left the shop with that wacky A/F in the first place...........I like dealing with those guys down there but was wondering about that issue if you know what I mean.

Thanks again,
Chris

Props to Excessive

I just wanted to give props to the guys down at Excessive Motor Sports East......

I was down there today and had time to talk to Chris and Torey. Come to find out the dyno sheet that I was given(the one I posted) is number 5 of 7 runs. They assured me that the tune was good in the truck......We actually looked at some of the later tunes and they looked alot better.........So basically it was a dyno sheet during the tuning process......They offered to run it again and fix it (if its wrong) free of charge........I feel ten times better about the tune after talking to them and them showing me the other runs.........

I just wanted to let you guys know what was going on with the dyno sheet that I posted and didn't want anybody to get a bad taste in there mouth for Excessive........They do great work and would recomend them to anybody?

Thanks,
Chris

Chris,

Glad to hear your L is running great! What A/F ratio was the truck running after being tuned? Does this mean you'll be in for Summerduck on then 12th?

Hey Chike,

Actually the A/F is just a little above 12:1 on the other dyno sheets. We are gonna put it on the dyno again probably in a week or so. I actually think I'm gonna get them to try to get it around 11.5 or 12 just to be safe for the winter. I should be able to go to Summerduck on the 12th.

Later,
Chris
