What is this TICKING sound?

Brand new truck, 300 miles. I hear a tick when I am outside the truck while it is running (ie in park at idle). Sort of like a diesel sounding tick. Seems more prominent on passenger's side of vehicle.

Could it be an injector I am hearing? Or something worse? It is very subtle... I have heard a loose heat shield before and am pretty sure it isn't a loose heatshield.

Ideas?

Thanks!

Probably the injectors. If it gets worse with more miles, you've got other problems.

Check all the plugs to make sure they are not loose. I know it is an 03 with the new heads, but it's better to be safe than sorry.

If its that subtle, my best guess is injectors.

I know this is an old one, but was your problem ever solved? Did you find out what the ticking sound was.

mine is making a noise that has never done before. IT started last week. The best way to describe how it sounds is when you unhook the vac line of the bypass on the s/c excpet it is coming from the underside of my truck. It only does it at idle. The other day i checked the plugs and one of the plugs had oil on the threads not shure if this is my problem or partof it.

Just changed my plugs also, and reinstalled my ported Eaton. I'm not sure if the noise was there before or not, I really didn't pay much attention before.

It sounds like it is coming from the passenger side.
