Stall speed question

On my 99 Lightning, if you brake torque it, you can only get to about 1200 rpm than the brakes won't hold it. This seems very low to me. Could something be wrong with the convertor? Thanks, Skip

Cool

Skip,

The convertor is tight. Mine is about the same as yours. At 1400 mine overpowers the brakes. 1300 is all mine will do without creeping in the staging lights.

The tight convertor also makes the shifts feel harder.

Chuck

My shifts feel like an old Chevy powerglide. They have felt that way since the truck was new. It feels the same with and without the chip. The trans does not feel like it is slipping. When a convertor goes out , I think that it starts slipping very bad. Maybe I just got a dog. Skip

Cool

Do you have a valve body or line mod valve to help the shifting?

Just a chip with increased line pressure.

The 1st thing I did to my truck was install a shift kit. My truck shifted like a Lexus before.
