intercooler fans & heat exchanger

Do they only help you when you are at idle?
When you are moving aren't you getting enough air through the lower grill forced into the stock heat exchanger? (Below where the license plate would be) Or am I way off at what intercooler fans do. Can I get more info on Spal intercooler fans and a heat exchanger even? Also is the way to power the fans a switch or how to you power them? Also what is an intercooler pump and switch? I am interested in getting my truck to run cooler (like it is now in the 60 degree whether) in the summer.

Thanks, Shane

They helped me a lot. I had my IC pump, IC fans and main fan wired to switches. I could get a 95% cooldown in about 10 minutes.

Also unless you have an electric water pump I would start your truck for like 15 seconds (in the pits) just to get the heat soaked coolant out of the block and back into the radiator to cool it down.

I am thinking about getting electric fans and a water pump. Along with the intercooler fans and a heat exchanger in the future. What is the intercooler pump?
Thanks, Shane

The pump that circulates the coolant thru the IC system.

It's that black pump that has a white Bosch sticker on it in the pic you posted.

Yes every truck has a pump stock. I just wired a switch to turn it on/off whenever I wanted.

Not sure what your asking.

In stock form the pump comes on thermostatically. However with a switch you can ALWAYS run it.

Also with a switch you can run it in the pits.

Thanks. What's better two 6.5 inch'ers or one 8 inch spal fan? The 8 inch one you can get for like $60 itself I think. The 6.5's are $55 each I think... Any advice? Thanks, Shane

Well the 8" fan will be a major ***** to fit on the stock exchanger. I used 2-6.5" fans. It covers more of the radiator anyway.
