Do any of you guys De-Mod going into the winter?
I know a lot of you will say it's mostly in the tires if you want to drive the L year round (up north). But along with that, will the Lightning be any better in the snow if I put the stock pulley back on, and I pull the chip? I know I still will have the fat tires on there till I change them to a thinner one. But do any of you demod going into the winter? What I'd like to do is put the L away come december and not pull it out till March or so. But we all know that's really hard for me to do.
I'm looking to sell my bike in the next month or so and get a little winter car for me. I just don't know what I want.
I do live in Chicago but it doens't snow anymore than a few good times a year. At least the least few years it hasnt been THAT bad. Maybe a few days here and there I can't drive the truck. But I dont see putting it away for 4 months cause I can't drive it for a few days...
Will pulling the chip, removing the throttle body, and putting the stock pulley back on help me at all? Thanks, Shane

I was thinking about going back to my 2lb lower from my 4 for the winter. I had a 0-120 blast last night and it made a smudge over 13 pounds boost in 60 degreee weather. But i will leave everything else on.

FORGETABOUTIT
The Lightning (AKA F-1's) are 100% useless in snow, ice, slush, or even the slightest dusting of the white stuff.
I tried driving around with 500 lbs of concrete
I tried sand, I tried everything, nothing works,
(except for a set of 16" rims with skinnier proper threaded tires)
After getting stuck time after time last yr,
not being able to drive up the tinyest smallest not even there inclines, I gave in and picked up a beater for the snow.
After a while you get tired of getting stuck walking home and
having to be pulled up an incline that you can hardly even measure.
Unfortunatly no matter what way I come home, I must climb a series of blocks of the the smallest tiny winy little inclines, the Lightning simply CAN NOT DO IT in the snow, neither could the old Cobra.
If you plan on driving in Snow,
YOU NEED rear RIMS AND TIRES
I have an extra set of Black AR rims one of our Brothers hooked me up with, I may try to find a set of skinny, tall, all weather tires for them so I can use them as Skinnys on race day up front, and then winter tires in the rear. The jeep cherokee is my work car now and I much more appreciate the Lightning as a night and weekend Beast anyway, plus this yr I can safe the stress and paranoia, by NOT DRIVING the L in blizzards and snow storms.
Never mind all that sand and salt

I would recommend backing down the boost for those of you running lean tunes and 6lbs or higher Pulley in zub zero temps. I back down 2lbs of boost for winter driving soley for safety reasons. Thats also why I run a upper lower combo

a winter tune, and a Nitrous tune
I hate to say it and I hope this yr is differant,
but all the Vets know, soon the Blown Motor Post will start...

This is a winter cold weather thing I refer too.
Mike knows that Motor didn't blow due to juicing it 1 time,
me and him have discussed that.
For the last few yrs, we have seen many (TOO MANY)
blown motor post as the weather and temps get cold
(some of us drive in extremly cold temps, I do)
Think of it this way, if you got one of those fast lean tunes,
(especially hi octane tunes) with lots of boost,
and them all of a sudden your out there driving in lets say 15 or 20 degree weather, and the computer adds 3 degrees of timing,
and that ice cold air gives you a little more boost.
GUESS WHAT HAPPENS ???

I pray with the gained knowledge and better tuning this yr,
this doesn't happen, but unfortunatly it prob will

That sucks...I couldn't imagine driving in the snow.... But than again you guy's don't get the 120 degree summer's...which sucks... The coldest i've seen it get here in AZ is mid to high 30's..
Drive it in the snow - these are really not that bad to drive! I have driven in each winter since 99, and they have been progressively worse each year.... no problems on F1's with no weight in the back - I am serious! This was driving in both Michigan and Ohio. Save the spare car money for modifications AND keep the bike.

I'd love to keep the bike, I just don't ride it as much as I used to. And there isn’t the room for it like there used to be. Even before I got it, I planned on getting rid of it towards the end of summer. And it's the fall. I'd like to get another bike in the spring, we'll see. I have to get a winter car in the mean time and then once winter is over I can sell the winter car and either get another bike or put some real money into my truck. Or I can just leave the money in the bank like I should and focus on getting through College!!! But for now I am looking to "trade the bike in for a winter car" that make sense?
