Easter or Tim S. - Intercooler temp question

This question is for anyone who has actually measured temps of the blower exit air VS intercooler exit air.

The stock cap on the intercooler tank is rated at 10psi, however this is probably never reached because it never gets hot enough to expand the water to reach the 10psi.

My question is..... would putting a schrader valve on the tank and airing it up to 9psi or so while cold make any difference on the heat transfer at either the intercooler or heat exchanger ?

I don't know a lot about that. I thought the reason to pressurize the cooling system is because water boils at a higher temp the more it is pressurized. I don't think that pressurizing the intercooler system would help take out heat but I don't know. Sorry.

As far as cooling systems go... Higher system pressure raises the vapor point of the coolant and subsequently it's ability to absorb heat.
When your at the drags and such... with cooldowns and all ... the system probably doesn't have any measurable pressure.....

I know how much Easter and Tim like data logging ..... I was hoping to peak someones curiosity enough to perhaps try it. I would, but I don't have all the testing equipment that you guys have.

Just for clarification -- easter loves data logging, but I just like reading his data.

I have not logged any IC data yet. I bought a digital temp gauge, but have not gotten around to intalling it yet.

Bottom line: easter has forgotten more about intake temps than I'll ever learn.
