Does FORD care about protecting the Lightning name?

While I was over supporting Krix, I noticed this post ...

http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthr...hreadid=111727

With the success of the Lightning brand, I would think that
FORD will be sending these guys a letter real soon now ...

HEH HEH HEH ...

Trademarks are done by class of goods. There are 910 registered trademarks with "Lightning" in the name. Ford only registered the mark for automobiles, not automotive lighting.

Sorry -- couldn't resist. Trademark law is an important part of what I do. Don't feel bad -- I did not understand the "class of goods" thing until my first year of practice. Plus, you asked an interesting question to which I also wanted to know the answer.

What's "the Fest?" (feeling stupid asking the question, as I guess I'm supposed to know, given your use of shorthand).

p.s.-- Thanks for the compliment, but although I race, I do not claim to be fast. At the last event, my chick instructor moved over the to driver's seat and immediately turned laps faster than me. Some are born fast, but most need lots of instruction and practice.

I am a pretty fast lawyer, though.

Kansas? Kansas? WTF is in Kansas?

J/K. I was born in Salina, KS. And SCCA is now HQ'ed in KS. And I attended the SCCA Solo II nationals last year in KS (spectator only). But not this year. Shame -- I did a Web search and it looks cool.
