Goodyear Hp's Junk.

I have had it with these goodyear Hp 20's I have had them balancesd about 6 times by different places and nobody can get them right. I have had several road force balancings also with no luck. They say they can't get the road force low enough.
Does anybody have a newer set of 20 inch tires they are trying to part with, something other than Goodyears?

Thanks

after working for a tire company for a few years i learned a lot about tire mfg. i HATE kelly/goodyear...bottom line if its a kelly/goodyear tire it wont balance worth a crap. not saying all of their tires are like this, but a higher than average number of tires are too heavy or out of round. i roadforce balanced my stock f1's after i had just gotten my truck, and 3 out of 4 were out of round or mishapen. bfg/michelin are my favorite choice. i could just sit here and go on and on about tires all day. luckily i dont work for a tire shop anymore. but im full of info on them if anyone has any questions

kumhos are lower end tires, but they might balance better and they are cheap, but they dont perform that great.

nittos are ok, bit more expensive, tire construction is good and balance great, but they placed last in the bfg tire performance comparison contests.

it depends on how much you want to spend and how much performance vs mileage you want

Has anybody had luck with the goodyear 275/45/20's that come on the Harley.
Would these have a little more tire and give a little softer ride.
I know I will ooose a little trackion but I would like a little softer ride.
Do these balance any better?

I don't know if they make a 20" but Toyo makes the only tire that goes on my L after the Goodyears are gone. I barely hit a curb last night and put a hole in the sidewall.

toyos are nice, good mileage too.

as far as the 275's i wouldnt say that they would balance any better. goodyears matched on a heavy 20"rim probably wont ride good. i would say you should go with a nitto tire or a toyo. just to avoid ride trouble. make sure they balance them right too.

depending on the type of rim, i would say it would probably need to be alloy 2 or if its a dished type rim (which it probably is) i would say go static balance

Have you ever had tires on the wheels before? The wheels would be more suspect to me than the tires.

Second, most standard balancing machines cannot reliably handle 20's. Have you gone to a place with an expensive ($20K+) balancing machine?

I have mounted and ballanced alot of good year tires and most didnt ballance out good. But I bought a some goodyears, only because i was low on $ and got a good deal.. I balanced them and every single one balanced out perfectly. Not one of my rims has a wieght or anything on them and the ride is perfect..

I know Michelins are great tires; my mom has 80,000 miles on a set of LTX A/T's on a Jeep and they are still going good. I just think they are getting a little hard from heat cycles.

Thanks for all the replys guys.
I have tried several places with road force balancers.
Not sure what else I can do.
They all say they are perfect but then I take it to the next place and they say they can't believe how far out of balance the guy before them had them.

The rims are 99-2000 repos.
I've been told they are fine.
The problem is always between 60 and 65 m.p.h. could it be something besides the wheels and tires.

Yea i was shocked as well. I even recalibrated the machine twice.

the guy i got the tires from, i have mounted tires from him before and have had a few that didnt need any wieghts. But all 4 is a first for me. My shop foreman couldnt believe it. But then again we are a rv shop and those big tires just down right suck

I work at a bike shop, and about one in 10 balances(no weights), but 95% of time we have to put a "fake weight" on the damn thing because the customer is not satisfied unless they see a weight.
