What type of antifreeze?
What type of antifreeze?
I plan on installing my 170* stat this week, and I will also be flushing the cooling system (25,000 miles on truck).
What kind or brand of antifreeze should I use? My '01 has the green stuff, but is there a particular brand that you guys recommend?
I plan on going with a 70/30 af/h2o ratio with water wetter. That should protect from freezing down to approx. 0* (fine for where I live) and transfer heat better.
Also should I use distilled water or will tap water be ok?
Thanks!
Sammy

Only run as much antifreeze as you need. If you live someplace it never freezes.........don't run any at all, just run strait water with some corosion protection/water pump lubricant.
One of the main reasons your supposed to change your antifreeze every few years is because the PH changes .. gets acidic and shortens the lifespan of all your rubber hoses.
Don't anyone attack me but.... I don't think water wetter is all it's cracked up to be. If there are really any measureable differences in temp it's probably just due to the fact that the water wetter people also say to run less antifreeze. (hint-antifreeze does not do a good job of transfering heat)
