SS rollpan install

Anyone got any tips?

I can't get this thing aligned with the body and side steps.

The 2 body posts that come down on near the sides interfere with the bottom of the rollpan causing the ends to be pushed out making it hard to get it flush with the body side and side steps.

The rollpan is not rigid at all, which caused the center to dip in a little, so it seems that a bracket needs to be made to push out the middle of the rollpan a little (when you push it out by hand is does help the side fit a little better).

Is that double sided tape really going to hold? After a few hours of trying to get that thing to sit right, the tape really doesn't look like it would hold.

Anyone else have this much install trouble?

Thats the reason I went with the Sir Michaels... and paid to have it prep'd and installed. You get what you pay for in this case. For some reason, no one ever gets products from SS which fit like a glove. They seem to always need a lot of prep when installing.

This is more then a little prep work

I would have gone for the Sir Michaels, but I like the looks of this one better.

You might have to notch those sides dude. I had no issue with my pan back in the day but it did take some sanding to get everything to line up correctly. You should also watch out for the tailgate to rollpan clearance, if you raise the pan too much in the center the tailgate will scrape on it when you open and close it.

Now the tape part. Find a body shop supply store ( maybe even a Napa might have this ) and ask them for a few packets of 3M's adhesive promoter. It looks like a wet nap but it's a really strong glue promoter that will make the tape bond super strong. Put it on the roll pan before you apply the tape and also on the body and your roll pan won't be flappin' in the wind.

Good luck sir

I think after shipping and everything it's in the $200 range.

Well 10 minutes on the grinder and the fitment of the rollpan is like a completely different one. Wooo hooo, I can finish.
