Need pic of shortblock with heads installed

A friend of mine just bought some PI heads for his 97 stang. I remember hearing that all heads are the same casting, there is no left and right. We have the heads sitting on the floor with the cams resting in them and we cant figure out how in the hell they are going to go on. We dont intend on putting them on our selves, we just want to see how it works. Maybe a pic will show what I am talking about.

I dont understand how one of the heads can be turned around. Thats why im looking for a pic. I think I remember seeing don post a pic of his motor swap a long time ago and it basically showed the motor without the blower on. Thats the kind of pic im looking for. Anyone have anything like that?

Umm....

I'm fairly certain there is a left and a right head, and it sure looks like you've two on the same...

The bare head is the same. It depends how the cam is mounted as to which side of the block they fit on.

Can the cams be mounted either way? I doubt it but it looks as if that is the only way the head would work.

This I think is the right way

And this is the other way. I mean the cam physically fits and turns but I dont think it can mount like this????:

The heads are the same. Only difference is where the oil galley plug is and the direction the cam is mounted...

The cams are marked LH and RH... Just set the heads up opposite each other (IE: Intake ports facing each other) and set the cams in their corresponding sides and it will become apparent how they work... The head that gets the longer cam has a casting "protrusion" to line up with the timing cover..

Cool

HI!... J15BIG : You have one of your cams backwards. The cam with the solid steel timing gear going on the driver's side head. The cam with the timing gear with holes in it goes on the passenger's side of the engine. If you look at the cam gears you will see that they have "LH" or "RH" stamped into them. From counting the valve cover bolt holes on your pioctured heads they look like WINDSOR style "P.I" heads. I might be wrong but I thought all MUSTANG 4.6's were built at the ROMEO plant which has less holes to mount the valve covers. If those are WINDSOR PLANT heads then your buddy will have to buy WINDSOR style valve covers because his stock ROMEO's won't bolt on to them. Here's a few pics :

Thanks everyone.

Don,
Those are the pics. For some reason I thought the IC and lower intake were off int hose pics.

Dale,
Thanks for the info.

Neal,
My friend is aware that he needs new valve covers. We got the cam situation figured out with a little help from Sal. The first pic you posted is EXACTLY the type of pic im looking for.

Again, thanks everyone for the help. We finally got it figure out
