Another satistfied Sylvania Silverstar user

Well I just installed the Sylvania Silverstars headlight/foglight combo and also the PIAA #19224 cargo lamp light (from jdsoffroad.com) that someone on here recommended. Everything looks good. Still daylight out but I can tell a difference. Thanks to everyone for all the good info and to felonious for the easy to install directions he posted on here. That's what makes this board so great!

I think you my have gotten the info from one of my posts here.
Wait til tonight you will really be praising the cargo lights and the SilverStars. I just went with halogen back-up lights and they make a great difference also. See the following thread:

Cargo lights?

How much of an improvement are the cargo lights?

I assume you are replacing the bulbs near the third brake light, correct?

Major improvement with Cargo Light bulb change! Yes, the bulbs on either side of the third brake light. Yellow is gone and light is bright, really lighting up back of truck bed. When off you see a slight bluish hue inside where the bulb is which also looks good. I've run these new bulbs all Summer in hot weather with no problem.
See below the pic someone did to compare.

With my L, I pull a 3 place ATV trailer with my ATV and my son's ATV's. When we are out at night, camping, etc. the PIAA --Cargo lights-- really do the job lighting things up in the truck bed to include the trailer. Twice now at Ford dealerships I have had guys/techs come up to me and comment positively about the white cargo lights and how they look so much better then the yuk yellow light stock cargo lights. Even in the daytime you see the difference. As you can see I really like the Piaa's!

Here are the BACK-UP LIGHT halogens I am using. I could not find PIAA's so opted for these which are priced right and do a good job. Much brighter backing up then with stock back-up bulbs

Oh, got them 2 working days after I ordered from that site.

I was so happy with the 19224 cargo lights that I got another one for under the hood. No comparison to the amount of usable light.

Ya know I have been toying with the idea of getting the a PIAA P/N: P19224 bulb for my under the hood light. Both the cargo and underhood use the same bulb correct? ANYWAY, was wondering IF, IF you leave your hood open for a length of time will the halogen bulb get hot enough to do paint damage to the hood? I'd hate to be the first to find out the answer is yes. OH, was under the hood working for a while last week and the bulb went out. I figured bulb burn't out prematurely and got the dealer to give me a new one. Put that one in and yesterday the sucker went out again.. hmmmmmm, I had my doubts the bulb died. I closed the hood for awhile and reopened it and damn light was on again. Must be the truck knows light has been on for a significant time and turns it off so not to run down truck battery. SOOOOooooo, do you think that it would get to hot and burn the paint. I know that stock bulb is not worth **** at night...

I had the hood open after I installed it yesterday for about 30 minutes and it was hot, but I don't think it would get hot enough to melt the socket nor the paint. I will experiment with the extra bulb If I can locate a socket and will run it on a bench power supply for a few days and see what happens.
