Sta-bil is the best treatment

I've found for water in gas. Use it in my lawnmower, blower, trimmer, and boat. If I've forgotten to put in the fall, adding in spring and waiting half hour to work usually starts tool right up when it wouldn't start before. Good Luck

If it seems to idle fine but doesn't want to take any throttle, it's probably a hose that's popped off the pump.

Well, it's looking like I'll probably get an Autotap or another Scan tool to pin-point the issue this evening.

We're looking at the EGR/vacuum line angle, as well, in addition to fuel delivery issues and maybe a bad-coil pack.

I'm looking to get this issue resolved before FFW/Ennis and LFest '03.

Thanks,

Ronald

If it's trash you need to change the fuel filter.

If it were me I would do both.
Whoa! Hold on there. Before you go out buying some Isopropyl Alcohol, besure you know what you are getting. The alcohol found at the drug store is 70% alcohol with 30% water. Go to a paint store or hardware store and make sure you get 99% Isopropyl Alcohol, or you can use Methanol.

If it were me, I would drain as much gas out as I can and start fresh. Mix in some Techron Concentrate and a little alcohol, change the fuel filter and see if runs better. If not, then it could be plugs, coil pack, vacuum leak or a a multitude of other areas. Good luck.

Well,

Here's the story! Turns out #1 and #2 coil packs went out at the same time and have been replaced ALL for $0!

The SVT Asst. Svc. Mgr. says it happens sometimes. What are the odds ?!?

Anyway, the truck runs strong like it did prior to all this and I've gone over the truck for any indications of hot-rodding. I checked the usual "indicators". Came up clean!

Also, they put on approx. 10 miles for the test-drive. Hmm.

I appreciate EVERYONE'S input during this "ordeal"!

I guess I just had a good experience with this dealership - other's had warned me about going there. I had reservations about going to this dealership, but it's all good now.

Congrats on getting it fixed. I figured that's what it was. I never thought it was bad gas. (did you even do any of those gas treatments or the fuel filter???) Again, congrats on getting it fixed. Shane

Shane,

I never tried any gas treatments, etc.

Thanks!

Ronald

But, both #1 and #2 CPs at the same time ?!?

There is nothing nothing wrong with running 70/30 Alcohol. I have ran this before with 0 problems. Water does not cause a problem as long as it mixes with the gas. Without the Alcohol it just sets in a pocket until picked up by the pump. You then have a high concentration of water trying to fire.

Ever heard of water injection?

P.S. Glad you got your truck fixed.

at least the coil pack went and you didn't launch a plug. What makes the coil packs go like that? Thanks, Shane

Earlier this week I filled up with BP/Amoco 93 down the street and 2 miles later my Scab started bogging and acting strange. I'm pretty certain mine is bad gas and I've noticed it is more common during season changes

The SVT Asst. Svc. Mgr. didn't say much. Just "it's one of those things" and his crew replaced them.

Dunno.
