pulley install fiasco

Well today me and jgstang67, well mainly him went to install a pulley and chip on my 99 Lightning. So the chip goes in fine all is well. Then the pulley, old one comes out just fine, and get ready to line the new one up. It doesnt. We try it a few times nothing looks right. So he measures the inside diameter of both(well outside of the balancer). The harmonic balancer is 2 5/8's and the pulley is about 2 /16's. So I call Mike troyer @ Troyer Perfromance and he measures both a 99 Pulley and a 01-up pulley, well sure enough the 99 one matches my 4lber as it should but the 01-up pulley matches the size of my harmonic balancer. So apparently I have a 01-up harmonic balancer and probably crank on my 99 Lightning.
I thought this was pretty strange.

Has anyone ever heard of this?

If you bought your truck used, you might have a newer engine.

I did but it was certified by an SVT Dealer, as being ok. I mean it doesnt necessarily mean that its not ok cause it might have a new engine. But still makes me wonder.

harmonic

charged: did some research,,, crank #XL326303CA is same for 99-02,,,,,, harmonic is #XL326312CA for 99-00,,,,, and #2L1Z6312AA for 01-03 ..... sounds to me like you just got a newer harmonic for some reason....... see you soon !!! (with the correct pulley i hope!!!!!)

ohh I see, so it is just the harmonic. Makes more sense then being both the crank and the harmonic.

We will see what happens when I get the right pulley the other one is shipping out today.

harmonic

charged: all the harmonic pullies seem to be the same overall diam.,, as they all take a 66" belt........ that at least answers that part of the boost question...

I just recently ran it through oasis to get the part number for the intercooler recall, but I didnt have him check on the work that had been done to the truck before.
