New guy here need help!

Hi all, I have been coming here for a little while now and let me say that this place ROCKS!!! This is my first post and I need a little help.

I currently drive a 03 Mazda 6s with the V6. I bought it thinking that it would be a cool looking sports car that has both power and be easy on gas. Well, it does get good gas milage. I have gotten up to 350 miles while still having just under a 1/4 of a take left. I turned out to be 26 mpg. Its power, though, turns out to be a bit different. The car does have some good high end
hp, but what it does not have is any low end grunt. I almost have to floor it to accelerate decently and that really bugs me. I did not bother to think about that before I got it. Because of this I plan on getting something else within the next few weeks and here is where I need help.

I have been looking at Lightnings for some time. I thought about getting one earlier but I only had a part time job so I settled with the 6 instead. I now kick myself in the a@@ for that. Now I have a full time job and I am thinking of getting one but it can only sit 2 people (3 if you sqeeze in). Thats the problem, there are times that I like to drive my family and friends around. If I don't have a car that can do that then I will be driving my parent's 98 Chevy and I don't want to because its old, has a lot of miles, and the seats in it are really crappy. I want something that can hold 3 or 4 people but can also get up and go really well. I want the performance of the Lightning but there is no room in it to do that. So recently I have been looking at Harley Davidson F-150 because they can hold 4 people and has the Lightning engine in it. I see it as the best of both worlds. But the
one I am looking at is about 5 grand more than a Lightning.

So my problem is, should I spent 39 grand on the HD or just pay 34 grand on the Lightning and just forget about it?

What does everybody think, I would really like some help on which one to choose because I will be spending alot of money.

P.S. I will be trading in the 6.

Thanks.

If I were in your position I would go with the HD. I was at one time thinking about trading the L in for an HD. Similar situation as yours. I drive people a lot and the 3 seater gets uncomfortable some times. Anyway, with the HD, you get the L motor, one of the best interiors I have ever seen in a truck, and it looks great as well. They can be modded just like a Lightning and can be made to go as fast. So, I say go with the HD, but if you decide to go with the L, you wont be dissapointed

34 and 39 large??? Ouch!!! :o Here in AZ you can pick up an L for about 29-30K and I've seen Harleys at 32K. Several dealers will do X-Plan on the HD's since they all have a few still on their lots and a couple will do X-Plan on the L's.

I don't mean to sound like a dumbass, but what is these X-Plans that people talk about? I have also heard people talk about D-Plans or something. What are these plans?

Some Ford employees are given a few(?) X-plans from Ford and they can give(?) them away. I believe Ford employees buy under their A-plan--not sure about a D-plan.

PML: I got my 01 L on a X-plan. The dealer may tell you you can't--that's the time to find another dealer. The first one I went to wouldn't but the second one did. It's entirely up to the dealer.

Well, within the next few days I will be going to talk to 2 different dealers in my area about an x-plan. Hopefully one will go for it since I got my current car from them.

I still can't decide on a L or HD.
Anybody else want to chime in here for suggestions?

You are not far from Chicago.

Call Joe Parich 630-682-9200 Ext 515

He is Truck Sales Mgr at Joe Cotton Ford...You will get the best price on a Lightning or a Harley.

I second that on calling Joe Parich!

I've bought two of my three Lightnings, and both of my Cobra's from him. My cost on all was far below what anyone else in the area would offer.
