Say a Prayer for my Real Bro
Say a Pray for my Real Bro
Hate to start a thread saying this is not L related But
One of my Younger Bro's (I have 5 Bro's) has been battling the fight of his life with the Big "C" (for about 1/2 a yr now)
Unfortunatly it's multiple myeloma and there is no cure or treatment for it.
The longest survivors can last 6yrs, (usually it's 3 or less)
He's in his late 30's with 3 young ones, the oldest being 6.
After 15 weeks of prep work, he goes in this morning for
our only hope, "Stem Cell Implants". Some may have heard about this precedure for other types of Cancer. It'll be a loooooooong stay in the Hospital, then a looooooonger recovery at home.
The precedure basically starts by harvasting (or removing) your stem cells (these are seeds that have not become cells yet), That part has been done a few weeks ago and they have enough for 2 procedures. Then they filter your Blood 8 hours a day through a machine that removes your Red and White Blood Cells. After weeks of that, you will have no immune system at all, and can die from a simple common cold (he'll be kept isolated, and prob not allowed visits from even us, his family). Once you have no immune system, they zap the ever living schitt out of you with more Kemo + Radiation for days and weeks, (whatever it takes) and bring your body as close to Death as possible, Killing every possible cell you have. If they do it right, and if they can kill EVERY Cancer cell, then they Implant your Stem Cells back in.
This will now rebuild your body, "Stem Cells" can grow into ANY CELL your body needs. They say it has up to a 99.9 % sucess rate, but 10% do die during the procedure (which could take 3- 6 weeks in the hospital) and this all can be for nothing, if they leave a single cancer cell in his body "before rebuilding".
I'm obviously not a Religious person
(you may have figured that out by now)
But I do ask my extended family to please keep him (Peter) in your thoughts and maybe say a pray. It'll be quite some time before we know if and how it worked, but it all starts this morning, and we're all scared Schitless.
Sorry for being so off topic, but I look at you guys like family,
and turn to family in a time of need

Rob, I don't really know what to say to help. I don't really consider myself a religious person but I find myself praying from time to time. Your brothers health and safety will definately be in my prayers tonight. I know what it's like to have someone close to you in bad health. May God be with you and your family.
Rob, Best of luck to your Brother. I hope all goes well. I will say a pray for him. My Father has been in the Hospital for the last two weeks and it sucks. Tell him we all wish him a successful surgery and great recovery!

Rob,
I am so sorry to here this Rob. You will have 7 praying for your brother and you and your family starting now.
You all have a long road ahead of you and it can help tremendously to write updates, ask for prayer, and just
express yourself. Please, if you can, keep us posted.
God bless,

Sorry to hear about your brother. My prayers are out to you. With some of the new technology out there, hopefully he can beat it. Prayers are out......

Rob, Peter will be in my and my families thoughts. I have a similar family issue with the big "C" so I know where you are coming from and what the family is facing.

Rob,
In times like this we realize how helpless we are and how we need to rely on God to answer our prayers. God is there and very real. I'll be praying for Peter. I'll pray that the doctors make the right decisions and that Peter stays strong through the whole procedure.
