Need help & Pics - EGR system?

I've got a miss on cruise that goes away with tip-in or acceleration. I think it might be the EGR valve, but the local parts dept wants $100 for a new one and that's a bit more than I want to pay on a hunch. How can I tell if its the EGR valve or the DPE? sensor?

unplugged the VAC line to the EGR and that fixed it. Guess I need a new EGR.

unplugging the line only allowed the EGR valve to close at idle, if it's being held open then its not the EGR thats bad it's more than likely the EGR Control Mod. Looking at the EGR Valve from the drivers fender area, it's the round black plastic device below the EGR valve and about 8" to the left, just to the right of the throttle cable at the TB. EGR Valves open and close, are good. Stuck open is bad, cause heat build up in the intake big time. It's eaiser to just block it off from the intake, then it makes no difference if it works or not
