28 x 10 x16 slick on 16 x 8 rim?? HELP?

I have my new slicks ordered

Just wondering if anyone has ever put these size on this size rim
I know I would lose some contact patch, but can get these rims for next to nothing.

Just let me know your thoughts and if it hurt you 60ft times and if it was squirelly going down the track

Thanks!!

I have used the 16 x 8 rim with 28-11.50-16 E/T streets and could not notice any ill effects.
Some here will agree, and some will disagree.
I would do it again. And if the price is right, then I would say you should.

I have had some customers and also done this myself. It will work just fine and 60fts should not be affected much. What I would not do is run that setup with less than 16psi in them as it will get a little funny at the top of the 1/4

Hope this helps.

I had some 16x8 weld wheels for my 28x11.5x16 hoosier dots. I had to keep the pressure up to avoid wrecking due to the sway at the higher speeds down the track 110+ mph. My 60 foot times also sucked. Now a couple of months ago I bought a set of MT wheels 16x10. I wanted to see what a 2" wider wheel would do for my 60 foot times before I spent the money having my welds widened 2 or 3 inches. I was amazed at the difference. I now get consistant low 1.7's and mid 1.6 60 foot time. I haven't got worse than a 1.75 with the wider wheel. I spray off the line, I rev to 2K rpm at the line. I don't spin much if at all and I run 16psi.

Now will the 28x10x16 tire act any different? Yes, it might, but do not try 28x11.5x16 Hoosier DOT tire w/o a 10" wheel. You're just wasting your money.

You can see a video of me a few months ago at the track with the hossier tires and 16x8 wheels. I had to put extra weight in the back and up the tire pressure to keep the truck on the track and still couldn't get good traction. Most of my runs were mid 1.8's and 1.9's. I did get one run with a 1.69.

I use 16" 28x10 Hoosiers
on 16x8 AR rims

1.6 60 ft time's 1st time out with them
