If you search under my name at around May 2003 , you will see i list the part #'s for the heads along with the new head gaskets to match.

you can buy the heads bare (without cams/valves etc) for substantially less $

Cool…

When I got that part number only complete heads where available at that time.

Do you have the part number for the bare head?

Doug most of the parts of course are the same and I tried to note where they differ. I collected those during the course of my project and I will put together a list of Lightning specific parts.

Cool

HI!... Thanks for the info guys. I just bought a set of supposedly "03" "P.I" heads from FOX LAKE but the casting #'s on each head read as follows :

RIGHT HEAD : RF-2L1E-6090-C20B

LEFT HEAD : RF-2L1E-6090-C20B

Now these are the actual casting #'s off the side of the head. Is there anyway to tell if these are truly "03" heads????? I know about the 8 threads in the sparkplug holes but these have a 12 thread titanium insert already installed in them by my order. Can someone cross refference my casting # to see if it matches up with the FORD part#???? Thanks, any help on this would be great.

The reason I ask is because I ordered NEW "03" "P.I" heads on purpose. When I received them they looked like they were used heads that were remanufactured. They have been sandblasted or glass beaded for that matter, because the intake/exhaust port flanges are not shiney like the other gasket surfaces and are of the same poris texture and colour as the rest of the heads casting. Also some of the pipe thread plugs on the side of the head that should be NEW looking because it was supposed to be a NEW head are rusted badly. It seems that the bead blasting took the candium plating off the pipe thread plugs and the moisture in the air has caused them to rust. It would just ease my mind right now to know if I actually got "03" "P.I" heads or not. Thanks again.
