Unhappy Put 87 octane in my truck this morning...

THis morning, on the way to work I stopped by the gas station...Well normally I don't lock the pump handle while pumping gas..This time I did so I could walk in front of my truck to look at my new Cobra hood ... Plus I was also still kinda sleepy...Well as I glanced at the gas pump I noticed the amoco gold pump was still hanging up and when I looked at the handle in my truck and it was blue (87 octane)... ...... I ran to the pump and snatched it out...I looked at the counter and I only filled up from Empty to a 1/4 tank with regular. Has anyone ever done this? Did I screw anything up? I rode around town doing 40 to 50 mph until I got back down to Empty... Went to chevron for some Techron gas additive and the 93 octane gas fill up..The only thing they had was 104 octane so I used that... Got on the HWY and drove until the needle was at 3/4 and I didn't notice any pinging or skipping...Acceleration felt smooth and as I kept driving It got better and better...I did a couple of downshift blast, pulled pretty good, and did a WOT, pulled strong!!.. So I guess the lower octane didn't damage anything...I was more so worried about my 93 octane chip program and the TR6 plugs being damaged... Anyone mistakenly put the wrong fuel in your truck?

When i first got my truck two years ago my mom drove my truck one day. So on the way home she decided to put gas in it. She put 10$ of 87 in it and on top of that she scrubbed the front valence on the left side but not real bad. The only reason she was driven it was becasue i was still 15 and it was just sitting in the basement. Needless to say she hasnt driven it since then.

thats a lot of octane booster:

91 octane - 87 octane equals 4

4 octane points must be raised

7 point octane booster means .7 points raised per can

4 divided by .7 equals

5.71 cans of octane booster

ok there is your math lesson for the day

(damn it sux being a math/engineering major and actually enjoy figuring this crap out)

Ya I had something like that happen to me.

On the way back from FFW in Virginia, I stopped in at JDM for a little tweeking of my program. About 5 minutes from Jims shop I went to fill up, and they don't have self serve in NJ. Well I told the guy to fill it up with 93, I take a peek at the pump a few minutes later and I notice he is pumping 87 octane. I scream at him what the F, but he had allready put in about 15 gallons. I had him top it off with 93 and then drove the 300 miles home. What a sucky ride babing it the whole way.

The truck never pinged and ran fine the whole way.

Yeah, I mistakenly put 5 bucks worth of 87 in last friday...so I left it at that and drove nice and easy down to KS imports Ft Lauderdale ,to dilute it with some 103....on my way down there 3 cars tried to race me but I couldnt.....as soon as I filled up with 90 bucks worth of 103 octane I was praying for someone to try me....anyone please....no takers.....

When I bought mine from the dealer Not a SVT dea;er they had 87 oct. in it when I asked SVT about detonation they said you should not have any at all which I knew from my Blower days on the Miata.I put some VP racing octane booster in there and it stopped the pinging cold.

When I was test driving Lightnings, my first shot was a Silver one. I liked the looks and everything, but it must have had 87 in it. I got on it hard(no salesman with me ) and it ran like dog crap. That is why I have a Black one today. Silver has really grown on me since though. -Mat-
