monster box failure
Well, I got the letter and put it in my stack of stuff, and I've been pondering it. I shouldn't have let it set there this long (about a week I think) Ths shipping is no problem, and the incidentals are piddling in the greater scheme of things, but the R&R is anoterh issue. As someone stated, and I have many times, it's a full race part and I don't give any warranty beyond saying I'll make it right in general. The problem with installs is that mostly, they're expensive, and secondly, (and this is kind of a cop out, I know) I don't require or even ask you to have it done by someone else. When I rebuilt the box, I didn't find anything wrong with it, except the forward clutch was burned up, but I still don't know why it failed, I have a few theories, and I have the clutch to look into it further (I haven't yet, but when I get some time I'll measure it, could have been an out of spec drum, or the piston could have some porosity). The most likely thing I think is a pressure plate just hung up on the splines, but I still don't know why. I can't even confirm that caused the problem, the plate is warped a bit but the heat could have done it or it could have been what caused it, no way to tell now. Anyhow, I don't know what happened to it yet, and was still trying to sort out how much I should do about it. Off hand I'll offer right now to re-imburse you everything except the R&R. I don't know of any company that will pay R&R on any part, and that's something I'm pretty hesitent to start doing.

bigdaddy's L,
i feel your pain. i have had some problems with the build up of my truck as well. but in the end both vendors, Gregg and Sal, made it right. I was surprised to say the least at how Gregg did business. He is a stand up guy and to me it seems like his first priority is the customer. He took care of me very well and his trannys is awesome. Im sure Gregg will do what he thinks is right and hopefully make things better. Unfortunatly sometimes you must pay more then anticipated but that is to be expected when dealing with any aftermarket part.
