exhaust drone

what is the HZ range of the drone? 200Hz, 500hz? Anyone know the answer to this puzzle?

It seems all the exhuast systems drone around the same rpms with roughly the same tone, so focusing on that Hz level specifically with types of mats would be most effective...

thx!

I wouldn't say they drone at the same rpms. On my Gen1, I went from stock, to stock with dynomax catback, to Bassani headers, then Bassani catpipe, then Bassani catback. All of them droned at different RPMs. Some would at 1500, some at 2000-2500. Right now, with all Bassani, it drones HEAVILY at 1750rpm (35/50mph), 200rpm +/- and it goes away.

The drone is resonation in the exhaust pipe. I would assume there is a range of resonance for stainless, aluminum, etc... I was just hoping for a ballpark idea of the Hz range...

Exhaust Drone

S.B.D. Muffler makes an adjustable muffler that is adjustable while driveing. They go from loud to quiet at the pull of a ****. It eliminates the "DRONE" ****

I would assume every truck would be different, but I would also assume that it would be in a somewhat narrow range -- say 200 to 400 mhz, depending on material, length of tubes, muffler makeup, etc. I've heard drone in half a dozen or more vehicles and they more or less all sound the same. I need to do a recording in the cab and then play it back through a spec. analyzer..

low

Drone is based on the length and type of exhaust pipe, so it will be different in every vehicle. If you want a ballpark, say 400 Hz or lower.

That's why I went with the suspended lead foam. It kills Bass much more than the matt products (I used two layers of b-quiet and a layer of the foam)
