Question Bad 1/4 mi. times for mods??

Little dissapointed with my times tonight, I thought maybe I would have been closer to my 12.99 or something....

Street side of chip:

60' 2.035
1/8 8.613 @83.75
1/4 13.326 @104.57

"Race side":

60' 2.140
1/8 8.750 @83.34
1/4 13.472 @104.42

The first time I let into it and then got on it, and I thought that was a bad time, so the next time i just pretty much got on it out of the hole. I've heard of guys in my area running just a chip and air kit running 13.0's, what gives???

BTW: 63 degrees
80% humidity

Jon

I would think with your mods you would do a little better but your 60' is killing you a little. Where did you run at? I am going down to Delmar Sunday to race. It's cool there because there are only 2 L's, mine and another guy. Bunch of GM's and mustangs.

Cecil, I am going to try and get up there Wed. I hear they are having a test-n-tune. Delmar is just a few miles past Laurel. It is on the right of the highway. It has a sign out front , US 13 Dragway, but you can miss it if your not careful.

Not bad for a Chip-n-2lb Pulley LightninSVT
CONGRATS

But with that extra 25HP or so you got
(via Elec Fans + Water Pump)
I'd expect more,
plus Cecil is a "Give me" for a good 2/10 th's
compared to most other tracks.

What Timing are you running ? (you need 16 minimum)
Did you do cool downs between runs ?

I really don't know what the timing is at, I had the truck up at Johnny's and he datalogged it. I got two runs in the 2 1/2 hours i was there, so yeah it was def cooled down.

Traction bars maybe?? what do you run stock 18's psi at?

I found my F-1's hooked best at 25psi
I actually got a 1.8 on them
tons of 1.9's
and one 2.0

Now I use Hoosiers,
my 60's are 1.6 with juice 12.0-12.3's
and 1.7 on all gas for 12.7 - 12.8 runs

Jon,
Dont be disappointed or fustrated, the power is there
I spent an entire summer running 13.1 - 13.3
with 6lbs of boost, YES 6 LBS OF PULLEY
But that was when my truck was brand new and I asked
for a extremly mild tune to break it in.
I was sooooooooo fustrated week after week.
When I questioned my tuner, I found out all I had was 2 degrees above stock timing

Once I hit 5000 miles I stepped it up to 16 degrees,
tuned down my truck to 4lbs of Pulley
and immediatly ran a 12.8

It's been nothing but 12's ever since
I backed up my 12.7's + 12.8's with a simple Filter chip n 4lb pulley

To prove my point, I did some testing this yr at the track,
I ran a 12.7 + 12.8 on my 16 degree program (all gas)
then switched it to stock timing and ran a 13.0
IT'S ALL IN THE TIMING and mine needs a lot
16 is very safe AND THE MINIMUM YOU NEED
Anything less and your ET's will suffer no matter what mods

I now run 18 degrees 24/7 on the street
I've been running it a few months now, so I know
it's trouble and detonation free. (Pulls like a mo fo)
I also kept my old reliable 16 degree program
(That's for Juice, long WOT pky runs, and winter street driving)
Next Month when it cools, I'll get some new ET's

I would say that it is pretty close for basically a 2 pounder. First thing I would do is put a 6 pounder on and reburn the chip.

Ya I agree get your 60' down and with less humidity you should run high 12's

Heat isn't as bad as humidity

Air down the F1's to 25-27psi
