Hellwig needs an L

I have had hell with trying to install a Hellwig rear anti-sway bar. They think it is the same as other F150's. I talked to the R&D guy (David Wheeler) and he said they need to get an L in their shop to fit up a bar. I told him I thought I could get him an L in a day or two. Any takers? They are somewhere between Fresno and some other town I can't remember. He acted like they were in the middle of nowhere. If someone near Fresno is game let me know and I will pass on the contact info.

Just curious... how is the L different, and what problems did you have installing your bar?

closer,

The Lightning has a specific rear sway bar and the current Hellwig hardware is a different design made for regular F150's as they do not have rear sway bars from the factory.

Definitely stout fitment just NOT a direct swap. BTDT, awaiting deliver of Hotchkis bars.

Ah, I see... So, let me ask you this then... please, of course... Does the factory L bar mount using some type of J-bolt clamp to the axle tube? In other words could a factory L bar be used on a regular F150 without welding?

Looks like a drive up north for you and maybe you can pick up some freebies.

I called David Wheeler from Hellwig.

he wanted to know if my truck (2001) is the same as the 2003 trucks. I told him i thought they were, but i wan't 100% sure. If i am not mistaken, all they changed in 2003 was the leaf springs (correct????) not the sway bar or shock mounts.

He wanted to know specifically if my trucks right rear shock mounted to the frame with a 4 bolt pattern. i told him, "i dunno", but i will check tonight.

maybe a free swaybar for me

I think the 01 is the same except for the springs.

If you get a free anti-sway bar just send me $50.00 for hooking you up.
