Unhappy My Transmission Is Aggrivating Me!

I'm getting tired of this. The first time I pulled it and installed it by myself. After a defective part I had it installed a second time by a tranny shop. This time it was leaking so when I built my motor a front seal went in. Problem still exists. It leaks a 2ft by 2ft spot in my garage after a day. When I crank the truck I can hear what sounds like the pump is dry , cause it makes a noise for about 30-60 secs. After all the money I have in this tranny on the fluid changes, pulling and shipping I'm getting upset. My tranny shop wants 375.00 to pull and install the seals, and fluid another 100 something. If I pulled the tranny I would have to blow Lightning Fest. I know if it leaks tranny fluid and leaks oil its a Ford. Why I'm not having any luck with these trannies is beyond me. 3 times a charm! Thanks for a listening ear. My wife says she don't want to hear it.

Thats super ****ty dude. Have you called Mr. Factory Tech himself about this? Would this be something that started when you first installed the Monster Box?

Hey aren't you the guy that also keeps burning valves and keeps having to pull the heads off ?
Hang in there, I am sure one of these days you will have all the bugs worked out.

May I ask who is working on your truck now>??? I think they deserve a big THANK YOU! Seems like you have been thru hell and back. I know I would be pissed if I dropped the coin on built motor and didn't get what I expected. I know someone else going thru this and it is killing him to be honest. I don't think you truck is doing to shabby at all now though! -Mat-

Sorry about all the problems man it sucks. The tranny rebuilder is not willing to help you on R+R costs>??? If so that just sucks. Was it a local shop>??? If I do a bench job for someone and it has problems I take care of it, even if it comes down to me having my guy pull it. I hope it all turns out well for you and you get the truck finished for Lightning Fest. Also $375 is pretty high to R+R the trans and slap a front seal in. Plus another $100 for Fluid! Woah. I wish I got $500 to R+R a 2wd pickup at my shop. They are taking you for a ride. I think $275-300 sounds a little more realistic and why is it gonna cost $100 to top off your tranny fluid>??? I am doing business all wrong! Best of luck to you. -Mat-

I built the transmission, and I thought Tim was doing his own R&R, he never even asked me. Send me the bill, Tim, I'll cover it.

Poor Tim, you are 100+ miles out of the big city and your wife blames you for paying new truck payments on a broken down beater. Your tranny luck has been pretty bad considering your only a street driven chip and pulley truck. Getting 2 months out of the first "Monster Box" was bad enough, now the second one is leaking from the get go That is a big **** leak! Tim did R&R it once or twice because he couldn't afford to have it done, I think he secretly likes it I think the sound is another problem seprate of the leak. That synthetic fluid gets expensive when you pour it on the ground every day. I thought you already changed your seal out once? Sure is odd for a seal to leak like that new.... Let me know if I can help you out here

I'm pretty sure I sent him a seal before, I'm pretty perplexed myslef on this one, it's not really a common problem. The first one was I'm pretty sure was another problem not really tranny, but it killed the tranny, if it's the one I'm thinking of, when I got it back, there was nothing wrong with it, except the plates were toasted in a clutch, I think the problem was electrical, but I'm not sure I'm thinking of the same box. Regardless, I sent him every seal, o ring and gasket that goes on the front pump this time, it should fix it.

Wow!I didn't think I would get 10 replies. You don't know how much better I feel this morning when I read the posts. Thanks alot for the support!!! I'm a die hard Lightning owner but sending it to the crusher has crossed my mind. I have been fightning this thing for awhile and trading out the truck is not an option. Terry that fluid a pain to buy so many times, but I can't get myself to put used fluid back in. I didn't mention how many times I pulled the pan on the first changing bodies looking for the changing problem.I called Medilins out of Ducanville and thay were a little better price, but getting the truck there is a bigger problem. Since Dennis can have a valve cover party, should I not get a tranny pulling party? Thanks for the help dudes I will stick with it till we get it right!

I got Next Generation Motorsports out of Ft Lauderdale , Florida working on my truck now and Willie Figueroa, head engineer and tuner for diablo chips doing all my tuning........they deserve the credit and they got it from me.....its a shame when the supposed Lightning expert shops cant get your truck right.....by the way it was Next Generation Motorsports that figured out that my cams were installed wrong , they were 2 teeth out......along with other things that were done incorrectly on my truck, he fixed them all ......
