Some Problems

So a while back i bought a pulley and a chip from a friend of mine. I was told it is a 5# lower pulley and the chip was from a 02' HD. So I sent the chip off to JL to have it burned for a 5# lower then i found out it only had 1 program on it so I paid more and got a second "race" program added. So I got the chip back and some denso IT-22's and went and installed everything. Went to the dyno and got it checked out. Street program sucked i don't even remember what the #'s were they were sad, but the A/F was 10.1/1 most of the run. Now for the "strip" program, i was told it is a 93 octane program so anyways i dumped some 104 in there and dyno again. I ended up with 375hp and 451tq with an A/F of 9.6/1 .

So here we go with the problem. I was talking to mecca the other night and I realized that my pulley is 8.5 inches which makes it a 4# as far as i can tell. Can this be the reason that I am running so rich? I also have a belt chirp along with my shifts so I'm thinking I have the wrong length gatorback because I told JL i had a 5# pulley. So I think I'm going to send the chip back, get some new plugs, and get a new belt. Thanks for taking the time to read and uhm if you got any suggestions lemme know.

Looking at the jumps in your graph, I think its fair to assume you do have belt slippage. Is there belt dust under the hood ?

tiny bit, the dyno tech dude told me that it was slipping as well on one of the dyno runs. things are now just starting to come together. i guess a slipping belt could lead to a rich a/f too

Spank,

I always have my chip burned for MORE boost than I run.
I happen to like Rich (MUCH SAFER)
Plus it gives me a built in correction and error factor

However, You may be too rich.

I don't have any Dyno's local to me so I've never dyno'd,
and can only guess at my A/F, BUT IT'S RICH believe me.
Either way I'm totally happy with it's 12.7 ET's with a 4lb pulley,
and 12.0's with 65 HP of juice added, so I really don't care where
it is as long as it keeps running the way it does

I'm now running a 18 degree timing program 24/7 on the street for a few months on pump gas with no problems at all.
(I believe my rich tune allows me to get away with that timing)
Soon I'll make some passes on that tune and see what ET improvements it makes over my 12.7 / 12.0 ET's which were done using 16 degrees of timing

IMO
I'd have to say, stop the belt slipping before
you go changing that tune

IMO There is NO way that one more # of boost is gonna fix that A/F .....

That is WAY WAY rich ....

The dyno looks scary..

thanks for the advice so far guys, I'm thinking I'm gonna try and fix everything at the same time and try again. new belt, new plugs, and some new programs and then a dyno of course.

Nice try at an insult blowme 318 but no it actually wasnt funny. Just because the KB is the cheapest out there doesn't mean it's the best just to let you know.

never said it was "THE BEST"........

but it makes more power than the 112.....

As I have owned a works 112 and KB, I must second that opinion. Don't get me wrong the Works112 was a good alternative to the factory eaton,BUT it is not even in the same league as the twin screws. Using the same set up on my truck the difference was 78hp and 116lbs of TQ. The only time the Works112 ever produced more power was between 3100-3400 rpm and that was like 1-2 hp and 7-9lbs of TQ. I also believe at such a low RPM the way I rolled on the the power could have made the difference. One more thing, those were corrected numbers and both at 17 PSI...

Heck, when a person with a works blower (the first 140) even tells you there is no comparison you figure you would listen to him.....
