The L, WRX, M5 & other cute little creatures...
Hey everybody,
I have just purchased 2002 Gray Lightning, however, been checking out this community for couple of months now. Lots of good stuff!!!
The truck is definetly fast... Couple weeks ago I got a chance to race cool looking WRX on PCH in Huntington Beach and it felt pretty cool to kick some ***. WRX was pretty fast too thou, but I was definetly pulling away, steadily leaving him behind... I'd say he was about a car length behind at around 80 MPH...
My previous fast car was 2001 Trans Am WS6 6-speed and a good friend of mine has 2003 M5 which I get a chance to borrow once in awhile so those two definetly are faster than my stock L. I would like to may be add some mods that would give that M5 good run for its money in a straight line, so I was wondering if you guys could help me out with some info or point to the right post or place on where to begin, because I'm sure it has been discussed over and over again. May be there's somebody in Los Angeles/Orange county area who specializes in this? The truck is under warranty for another 24K miles and I wouldn't really wanna void it. So I am not sure what my choices are. In any case, thank you in advance for your time. ILYA.

Welcome aboard. So you wanna go fast and not void the warranty>??? Doesn't everyone. LoL. My first mods were a chip and an air filter setup. Those 2 things netted me 13.1's in 90 degree heat. To be honest that is how I should have left my, it ran perfect and was felt like an animal. You can also go with a pulley. But the chip and pulley are the warranty no-no's. Of course you can take them off and hope the dealer doesn't notice any changes. Or buy a spare ECM and use that for the chip. I think the first thing to do would be to look at the ECM and see if the truck has been chipped before. -Mat-
Welcome to the board
Since you local to some of us, feel free to stop by www.nloc.net/socalloc
Thats our Local lightning chapter for So Cal. We can help you with picking the right mods and getting them installed.
Chip, Filter and Pulley will do major damage to an M5, C5, LS1 and just about everything out there

I too was concerned about voiding my warranty, so I installed a 4# lower pulley without a chip. Really woke the truck up, and if I have to take it in for warranty work, I will simply reinstall the factory pulley.
Good luck!
Good luck!
