Bigger Blower?

Larger blowers make horsepower easier and with less detonation. I do not race my truck at all. I just drive it. Why did I put it on? the same reason that I bought the truck. Because I wanted it! Would I do it again? Hell yes! Remember you cannot put a price on fun.
When we were drag racing in the late 60s and early 70s we only had two rules: The expensive part had to be faster, because your pockets were lighter. and If you throw the part in the air and it comes back down, it is too heavy!
Having the coolest wife in the world helps alot also. She says that if it makes you happy get it. But then she says " you are probably going to be dead or brain dead on 15 to 20 years so you better enjoy yourself now". Damn, I am only 55, and not quite ready to check out! What this all means is. The reason we buy bigger blowers is because they make them.

IT'S ALL ABOUT THE TEMP

I agree with Tim about over spinning the Eaton,
I can also say from personal experience after 2 seasons of Gas Runs and one season of Nitrous and or Gas runs, my best ET's are with 4lb's and not when
I run 6. (Remember I have no cooling Mods)
BTW, all my tunes are always tuned for 6-8 xtra lbs of boost,
so when I run 4, I'm assured it's super rich. (I like that)

Yes it's true, V and Gator and many more run 11's with
lots of boost, that because they are masters in cooling them down, and waiting between runs. Thats why my best ET's were the day I went racing with them I learned
much that day, V, Gator, The Captain, Pawn, Jim, John, EVERYONE was sooooooo helpful and filled with sugestions.
THANKS GUYS.

To run those numbers with that much pulley, (especially in the heat) you need to have all the cooling mods, (I cant afford), They have them. Electric Fans, ice on the uppers, intercooler pump switch to move fluid when the motors off, after market heat exchangers, Cobra Pumps, thermostats, etc.. Not to mention Skinnys up front and weight reduction (something else I never did) Some also have suspension, exhuast, and Convertor work,
(I have none of that either)
There's no doubt the power is there and their ET's show it,
but if you start running back to back in the heat, you can expect to loose up to a good 1/2 second. I've found with the 4lbs pulley I can run red hot off the parkway without a cool down, then straight back around for another pass, (sometimes the slip times are with in minutes of each other) and be pretty much on my game and ET. With 6lbs I'll be off by a good 3/10th's.
Of course with Nitrous I can get away with hot laping, but found my best ET doing it that way 12.2 and not the 12.0's I've done with a proper cool down.

IT'S ALL ABOUT THE TEMP

I'll get my 11's next time out, I'm confident,
and I'll do it with 4lbs of pulley.

Confident = oct/nov racing with V

Go get em Rob. I hope to see some killer times outa that truck soon! I want to see them 11's with a 4lb'er and 55 shot! I want to run an 8lb'er, cooling mod's, and 75 shot w/ dual 255lph fuel pumps on my built shortblock! Hopefully thats the equation to 11's in this South Florida heat.

Thanks Mike,

But I think you should be looking towards the 10's
not the 11's

Rob, unless I spray a 200shot on top of an 8lb pulley, I don't think 10's is going to happen ehhehe. Its gonna be another 2 years before I get a KB. Ive got enough debt as it is. Even if I spray a 200 shot on an 8lber... I think that will only happen once. Stock tranny will prolly bite the dust!

I drove in the dead of winter, Long (500 or more miles each way, numerous times) trips and a lot of 1/4 mile passes w/ my stock eaton and stock internals and all on the same tune, thanks JDM(except for the 4#). Yes I have had the same tune for 15,000 miles and in all kind of conditions.

So in my opinion Ford did a nice job w/ the L package, blower and all.

Of course I want more so now the KB goes on and the internals go in.
