Food for the L.....

So I'm driving down through Chautauqa Canyon down Entrada Drive (If you're familiar with Santa Monica then you'll know where this is) and pass the Canyon Service Station. This was one of the few time I had a camera with me, so even though it is night time I decided to take these pix.

This gas station is a relic of the 30's but the fuel they sell isn't.

This first sign shows the prices, but I think they have not been updated in quite some time (you'll see why in picture 3)

Like I said, it's almost a museum to gas stations of long ago....here are the pumps...

And here is the best part....FOOD FOR OUR TRUCKS !!!!!

Yup...you saw that correctly. 110 OCTANE !

Now, if I'm not mistaken...that's 10 dollars a gallon for 110 Octane !!!!!!!

They sell 91 Octane (which is Supreme Unleaded here in Lost Angeles)
The other pumps put out 100 Octane, and 110 Octane.

Cool

hmm.. how much would it cost to fill it up>

why not pull up to the local airport and use aviation fuel. (my old banshee used to love that mixture)

110 Octane is going to be leaded gas. Don't put leaded gas in your truck. Your Cats and O2 sensors will thank you. -Mat-

P.S. That would be close to a $250 fill-up!

I've run over 30 gallons of C16 through my truck. No problems and my truck thanks me.

Thats around 116 octane.....try some propolene oxide (it oxygenates your fuel)...that works awesome too....

Where can it be purchased “propolene oxide,” and what mixture ratios are you using??
How much per gallon or tank? I have a Toulene addicted truck! However, have heard that Toulene is highly corrosive; does the L have a plastic gas tank, or steel??

Thanks for any info!!!

My father use to work as a toxicologist and something else at a texaco refinery way back when I was a youngin.

He use to fill up his old truck on fuel he tested. I think he had the choice of going way up to 120 or something.

if only he had that job still since we got the lightning now.

but the 30k/yr woudln't suffice lol

Bummer!! So no idea of mixtures, or anything?? Yea, I agree 30K is extremely difficult to live with, I paid more than that yearly, on my American express Gold Card! (due in full every month)

Ok thanks, On to another quest! Where can I get a hold of some “propolene oxide,” and start feeding it to my riding lawn mower, to see how she like it! Hee.. hee..
