EGR question???

I've seen this question asked in a few threads but never answered.
Has anyone removed their EGR and tube?
Also what problems (if any) did arise?
Can it be done without throwing codes and SES light?

Thanks in advance.

i think you opened a can of worms there. basically some people have tried it but i think the result wasnt super popular or more people would have done it. im sure you probally gain something and you could probaly get your chip somehow burnt to compensate for that.
personally that seems like a vital part of engine control but i dont know anymore about it than you do, just throwing you some opinions.

I asked the same thing you did; I got a few(2~3) people who said they have, but that was it. Mine is still on, but soon will have a phenolic spacer between the valve and the upper plumn to help stop the heat transfer.

I don't have it. The tuner can turn off the trouble lights if you want.

Does anybody make/sell a plate to cover the hole left in the air plenum when the EGR valve is removed?

C Brown,

Where are you getting a phenolic spacer? Will they withstand the exhaust heat?

the exhaust is unnecessarily heating up the upper plenum through the EGR....

Has anybody thought about a small phenolic spacer between the EGR and Plenum?? I would have remove the EGR but in AZ it is required and they look for it. You automatically fail emissions if you don't have it. In my opinion they are worthless unless you are an enviromentalist and are worried about the Ozone depletion in the next 100 million years from now...
