dvd

I am thinking of putting a dvd player in the L. It looks like I can get about the same deal on the Panasonic 7300 or Kenwood 911. I think they are very comparable units. Anybody have any experience with either of these units? Any preferences? Thanks for any comments.

Thanks for the reply. Have you seen the Panasonic? I wonder if one is any better than the other. I think the Panasonic has a 7 inch screen compared to a 6.5 for the Kenwood.

Dude, go the 911 over the 7300. I promise you will not be disappointed. I have the 911, sirius and got the music Keg as well. Once you get to using the Music Keg, I guarantee you will be very happy. You can hold 20g+ of music about 5000+ songs and you will never carry a Cd with you again. Your options with the 911 are unlimited compared to the 7300. I put a 7300 in my buddies cobra and neither one of us were satisfied, he took it right back, got the 911 and no is very happy. Hope i have helped at all. good luck, if you need any install tips, jsut let me know. Thank you.

Mat

Thanks for the replies guys. What is the model number of the Pioneer that is compareable to these two models? I looked at some Pioneers on ebay, and they didn't seem to have all the same functions. More specifically, the built in tv tuner. But if you can get awesome deals, that is what I am looking for. I thought the Kenwood would probably be a better unit than the Panasonic just based on brand. I have had Kenwood stuff in the past and was happy with it, but for the last few years I have bought all alpine stuff. Problem is now the alpine dvd players just cost way too much. Keep the replies coming.

I'm not sure if Pioneer makes an all in one with the TV tuner. I've got the AVX-P7300DVD head unit with the AVM-P8000R audio/video master unit and love it. It has some things I don't like, like the fact that there is no display when the screen is closed and I have two remotes, one for normal use with CDs and the radio and another for DVD play (kind of funny that I need a universal remote for my truck!); all in all it is cool as hell! You can add on pretty much anything to it, including the TV tuner, but is it worth $400-500 for 5 or fewer local channels? I would like to get satellite TV in mine someday, but that dish would look really weird on the side of my truck.

I've got the Pioneer AVH-P7500DVD, and it is full featured. It comes with the TV tuner built in. It also has DVD-A if your interested in multi-chanel audio. Another cool feature is a microphone that is used to automatically set up the eq for the acoustics of each individule car.

The only negative thing some people have said about it is the screen is not as good looking as the Alpine, but I think it looks real good.

I think pioneer stuff is ok, but IMO their screens suck. I've had the 911 and loved it, but sold it not too long ago. The alpine units have one of the best pictures as far as picture quality, but for one with as many options as the 911 are incredibly expensive. I sell Alpine, Kenwood, Eclipse, and select pioneer units at my store. Eclipse has one of the nicest in dash TV units I've ever seen or handled.

Great info guys! keep it comming. I think I am starting to lean towards the kenwood. I may have to check into the eclipse, I have never seen that brand.

The main reason you may have not ever seen eclipse is because they are a strict in house retail company. No online sales are permitted with them. Eclipse and Alpine are the top two rated Decks available, but for in-dash screen the kenwood is definately in the top 5.

I have the Pioneer AVH-P7500DVD like Sharpshooter. I am pretty happy with it and don't have any complaints about it at all. I shopped around like you did and my next choices would have been kenwood 911 or alpine then clarion.

I like the Pioneer cause everything is pretty much built in. I don't have sat radio yet but will be getting it soon. Whats nice about the Pioneer is the tv tuner is built in which is one less component to install in such a small cab space. I took that into consideration and the fact that it was only 100bucks more then the Kenwood I couldn't pass it up!
