Question '03 Fuel Filter change

MISTERGadget and I got together yesterday to do the FTVB install with the Moroso pan on his truck. We also did a quick oil change on his and a fuel filter change on both trucks. I'm afraid we ran into a bit of a snag though. On my truck the rear line, the one with the plastic clamp, came off without a problem. When I tried to get the front line off with the removal tool, the damn thing wouldn't budge. At one point Gadget and I were both under there trying to get it off, but still no luck. I didn't want to break anything by pulling too hard, so I just reatached the back line and called it a day until I can figure this out. Has anyone else had this problem? Any ideas?

BTW- The Moroso pan we put on Gadget's truck is really a great piece. I'm sure he'll post some pics eventually.

Well, your comments on the FTVB. Installed mine last week
(250 miles ago). Install was wasy, easy. I am trying to get used to shift into third that seems harder then the other shifts. Again, would like to hear how your FTVB feels. I plan on installing Truck Tracs next week.

I'm going to double check the fluid etc.. on the truck and take a few pictures of the completed install.

So far I'm loving the ftvb. The 1-2 shift feels great and the little chirp is awesome, the other shifts give you a nice kick too but they dont feel too hard for me. Shift feel is a very subjective thing though, so what feels perfect to me might be too hard or too soft for someone else.

Hey Vinnie,

Wish I coulda gone with you guys, but I had to move my brother into his new house up at FSU. Anyway, the couple times ive done my fuel filter, ive had some trouble with it. Ive found that if you push in before pulling out, it seems to come off a lot easier. When I get my truck back im going to be changing all the fluids, so maybe we can get together and I can give you a hand.

I've had the same hard time with my fuel filter change on my 01. As someone else said, push the line/connector towards the filter, then push on the tool. It seems that the connector lock does free itself but the tube on the filter is slightly oversize and the line is just too snug. In other words, just keep pulling/twisting(slightly) on the line to get it to slide off of the tube.

I've changed my fuel filter a few times with out any problems. Just hate the fuel getting all over the place.

I've had the same experience changing the fuel filter opn my 01 - and did the same things as Lightningrod. All of a sudden - it just comes off. Just work at it a bit - and you'll be ok.
