Ordered a KB today

Well after agonizing over this decision all week, I finally decided to bow up and order a KB from JL. My main reason for this is to increase the efficiency of my motor in this hot *** weather. I'm tired of losing 40+ HP, 1/2 second, and 5 mph for 8 mos. out of the year. I plan on running a conservative tune and 12-13 psi at the MOST. With the other mods on the truck I'm hoping she'll go solid mid 12's in the heat and LOW 12's in the Fall and with less stress on the motor in terms of air fuel and cylinder pressure( current A/F is 12.2:1 and I was about to step up to a 6# lower putting me in the 14psi range w/ the Eaton). I'm just hoping and praying that I don't vent the damn block. Thought I'd post up and see what you guys thought...

Well, I think $3000.00+ is a lot of money to put into a mostly street driven truck just to gain some horsepower in the heat. Instead of looking at it as losing 40+ HP, 1/2 second, and 5 mph for 8 mos. out of the year, look at it as gaining that for 4 months out of the year and save the $3000.00, unless of course, you got money to burn.

Well I'd been considering going to LT's($1500 w/ mid-pipe and there seems to be some controversy as to how effective they are), a 6 lber( $150), and a flip chip ($400), not to mention the PITA factor of installing the LT's. That's 2 grand plus...So I figured get the KB for 3K, easy to install, guaranteed more power, and can always sell and recoup at LEAST 2/3 of my initial investment if I needed to.
At least it sounds logical

You will love the KB, but I would recomend upgrading the fuel pumps and fuel injectors.

Dome 255 pumps and 50# injectors will do the trick. Remember the KB flows a lot more volume of air, it isn't just the boost level.

Thanks Don! I knew that bigger injectors were necessary when making in excess of 15 psi and/or 500rwhp. I guess I was just hoping that the 42lbers would be O.K. since I'll "only" be running 12psi or around 430-450rwhp...

You will definately be happy with the KB...Dan03lightning runs his 16# KB on stock block w/ no problem...bigger injectors arent really necessary for the power you seek...if anything Id go with the bigger 255lph pumps and a JDM spacer.....and by the way that spacer really works.....

Congrats on the purchase! Are you doing the install yourself or having someone do it for you>??? The blower is awesome. Never stops pulling. If you have any questions ask away. I did my install myself along with I am sure many others on this board. Goodluck! -Mat-

Thanks Mat,
I plan on installing it myself, along with a couple of my L buddies. I think they're just as excited about the new blower as I am I'm pretty certain that I'll have some questions arise. I ordered the KB from JL along with a chip tuned specifically for my combo. Should be here sometime this week, plan on installing next Saturday. I'll be keeping ya'll informed

Thanks Again!

If you have all the tools required, it should take roughly 2 hours start to finish. At least thats how long it took me. You will love the new sound.

Rob,
One bad dyno on a hot day and there you go flying of the handle.
I've been considering one too, but just couldn't justify the $$$ yet.
