Question Which GROUND is Better??

Got so much going on with wiring all different things right now..

Some equiptment calls for a CHASSIS GROUND.

Is it just the same to have all my GROUNDS direct to battery instead?

I know where the chassis grounds are in the truck, but if i can just tie every ground into going back to the battery, isnt that even better??

I thought the same thing too. You want your grounds as short as possible but still to a good ground. If its too long its going to pick up a ton of noise.

i guess my shortest ground would be driver side kick pannel area then.. there is a chassis ground bolt there already..

thats still better then just self tapping into a piece of metal somewhere right?

The location of the "sweet spot" is different for every vehicle. I chose to use the bolt that held my jack in under the passenger seat and I dont have any unwanted noise.

Keep your ground straps under 2 feet to reduce the chance of picking up EMI. Self tapping into sheet metal is perfectly acceptable.

When self tapping I try to scrape to bare metal where the head of the screw is going to touch as well. It can never be to clean for me to keep from picking up noise.
