The first one I saw was a Silver 99 at the dealer. This was back in 99.

In a car and driver mag in like 99-2000

 

And then it came home with me..............

 

...at a dealer when we bought our 2000 Explorer. I didn't even know about them until that day.

 

I saw a red concept Gen 2 at the Chicago auto show in Feb of 98. I told myself when I saw that if they ever built one to sell I would have one...Early in 99 I ordered my first Gen 2 and it was delivered a few months later...

 

It was in front of a subway. I walked out and my jaw hit the ground. It looked awfully hot. I asked the guy what it was and he said a "Lightning, Fastest produciton truck on the planet." He showed me around it a little. It was trully love at first sight.

That was the day the lightning bug bit me.

First time I came across a GenII, I owned an 96 impalaSS with 316rwhp(lots of mods). Anyways I have eaten a lot of the earlier 93-95 models all the time. Well I came up on one at a light thinking they were just like the earlier years, it was a black one looked real sharp, the light turned green and we were off. He took me to the cleaners and I was like WTF is in that thing. I started investigating on the net and found out they were supercharged. Eight months later traded the impala and bought me a red 00Lightning. I have to admit though I do miss the impala now and then but no regrets on the purchase of the L

 

I saw the tailights of one after i got my 98 Cobra Vert. Pissed me off too

When i got my 98, i had no idea SVT was releasing the Gen 2 L shortly after, especially with its hp level.

 

First impression was made at the drag strip, I had an '88 Mustang ragtop and lined up against an L. I ** thought ** I'd rip him a new one, but he got the jump on me and I had a hard time running him down. I did beat him, but that truck really impressed me. I had to wait a long time, but I sold the car and bought the L.

 

My wife and I were driving to a restaurant one early evening in 2000 on Russell Parkway in Warner Robins, Ga. I saw a red 2000 L ahead of us and I was flabbergasted . What a truck ! I didn't know anything about them but I found out and bought my 01 in May of 2001.

Btw, I think it was Masterloggie's L that I saw....................

I always wanted to have an L when they came out in '93. When I saw the concept L in photos taken from the car show, I wanted one bad.

My first encounter with an L in person was when I went to buy one back in '99. It was a red one sitting on a dealer's lot in TN, still w/ the plastic on the seats and everything. Of course it was already sold as were the rest that were coming in. I walked all the way around it and took a picture of it. I definitely got bit buy the bug that day.

Then I bought my first one in '00 and traded it in for a '02 and never looked back.
