Exclamation Buried my TACH....still alive!!!

Went out to Rt. 66 yesterday with some guys at work for a lil friendly competition and actually BURIED my tach! My first (and fastest) run was 12.9 @105. I had all 9 of the guys beat all day until someone dialed in a 12.8 @107. So I came up.....did a really long burn out- got a great launch (1.83 60ft on F1's) but as I hit second, the tires broke loose. Boost came up too high I think and I believe the boost dump activated. Lost all my boost for a second or 2...it came back just as I got close to the end. So I unplugged the boost dump and tried again. Well my next run- same thing--broke loose--Boost jumped up and so did the tach. I looked down and I can honestly say the Tach hit 6000rpms. Almost pooped myself--let off the throttle for a sec and got back on it. Ended up with a 13.9 @104. But it felt really strong since it was about 15* cooler. I had that 12.7-12.8 but oh well.

I dont care what anyone says--The boost dump stays on!

But at least I got to drive it home and now I can offically say that I am a member of the 12 SECOND CLUB

Maybe I'm wrong here, but isn't the fuel cut-off point on our engines at 5250 rpms?

BTW- Congrats on the 12 sec club. Awesome times

I thought there should be a cutoff somewhere. Ive heard that the stock Tach can be off by 200rpms. And if I'm not mistaken, my chip is programed to 5400rpms.

Maybe i shouldve have left my foot on the floor???....I'd be ordering my shortblock alot sooner then

You should get rid of that 4 pounder and put a 6 pounder on ther with a pair of slicks and a new tune......... this way you dont have to kill your truck to male a good 12 second pass.......

Following my recent tune, my L will reach the 5400 rpm range, before she changes. And I understand that you can actually push our stock engines to 5600, but that is getting risky.

Yea...I just didnt want that 12.7 seconds of life to cost me $5000

If that was the case- Id much rather get a high class hooker and become a member of the 11 second club!

Thats where i am shifting at (5600) 6000 rpm must have been screaming. Cool, glad it held together. Even if your adjusted rpm was only 5800, still good to know.

P.S Congrats on 12 sec. club!!
