Heat and Humidity really killed me at the track!!!!

Well this is the first time I ran with the 3#er FTVB and the 160deg thermostat and the best I could do was a 8.91 @ 80mph 1/8th I could not hook up but did manage to pull a 2.0 60' on that run.It was 90-95deg in Albany Ga. and I would guess 90+% Humidity it rained about a 1/8th of a mile from the track just missed us you could see the steam coming off the pavement from the track.I was hoping for a 8.50 or better the last time I ran 8.88@80mph in mostly stock form just a modded air box and a Magnaflow twin muffler with x-pipe the temp was a little cooler and lower humidity that day.My buddy with a 01L running a 4#er 125 dry zex shot hoosier PSP chip denso IT22's and a super cooler only managed a 8.11 he also could not get it to hook with the slicks.I know that heat and humidity was the culprit but even with my M45 Miata overspinning the blower to 17,750rpm's seemed to run more consistent with only water injection for cooling I guess it put out so little HP compaired to the Lightning you would not feel the difference any way .I love the JLP 3#er and the truck screams I just wished I could have got it faster then 8.88.Oh as a added plus I did beat a 03 Cobra not once not twice but three times by 3 tenths But the guy really did not know what he was doing first time he raced it at a track(Read legal)shure was fun and I got it all on video.

John you know I called about going to Bama Sat night, the humidity wasnt just in Georgia! My times sucked azz! With the new 6lb pulley best time I could turn was a 8.80 @ 82 mph, 2.1 60 foot! I ran a 8.50 @ lynn last month with the stock pulley!!! I was looking forward to the other night so bad to see how big of a difference that pullley made! Ruined the whole night. I've got to get to the dyno and get this chip reburned soon!!!!

I'm too in the dirty south went to Alabama Dragway (steele) about 2weeks ago on a sunday and the temp was 90 deg and raining all around us so the humidity was way up there. I would let the truck cool with a bag of ice on the intake for about a gour then run. It went a 8.08 @ 86.2 and 12.70 @ 107.54. I tried going back to back to run it hot and it slowed to a 12.989 @ 105.5 and 1.8 mile was 8.30 @ 84.5 so the cool down and ice help a lot.

Don't be disapointed georgia-SVT
Any Day at the track is a Good Day, weather
you manage your best ET's or Not. We all know
heat kills ET BIG TIME.
You had fun, you got to launch the Beast a
couple of times, and nothing broke.
It's all good

I have ran twice now in hot and humid weather, 86-90deg ( we also had rain around us).

The first time I could only run 8.88 - 8.9x. @82 with 60's in the 2.2 range.

The second time to the track;
I installed some clamps on my rear springs and changed my launch.

I did a descent burnout (I know rule of thumb is not to on F1's)
I launched at 1\2 to 3\4 throttle from a dead idle

I ran a 8.45 @82 with a 1.907 60' then did a couple 8.5's

I learned I CANNOT launch with rpm's up at all.

You got that right, Me and a Buddy that also has a Lightning seem to slow down about 3-4 tenths in the heat.

But I did post earlier about a new best time yesterday.

That makes me feel better I really thought I would run faster but you need to consider the heat and all.My F1's are getting thin I guess I need to put on the new ones I got sitting in the Formal dining room(wife loved that idea).I guess I nedd to wait until August or Nov. to get some good air.Maybe I'll sneak up there to Renolds and run it in the 1/4 do you hear me Lightningrod.

heat n humidity can change my times by a full second! I have yet to see any other vehicle that is so drastically affected by H&H as our Lightnings are. A friend at work challenged me to a friendly race against his modded Cobra(not an03) and I ran 14.0's consistantly three times....and beat him 2 out of 3 . I can look at my timeslips and tell you what the temps were during the runs just by the times the truck ran . If you can beat someone in the heat they don't stand a chance in better weather.
