Crate Motor

Does Ford sell a crate motor for the L ??
I blew my motor up at the track yesterday.
1st time with nitrous (ZEX 55hp shot) and it blew a whole the size of your fist thru the block.

Look towards the bottom of the page, you can get either a 5.4 or 351W long blockLightning from them. Good luck and tell us what you do!

That Sucks seidler

But LOTS OF US run Juice
Juice DID NOT blow your motor
What type of Tune are you running ???

I'd un-mod it and try bringing it to Ford.
It could be one of the 5.4's they forgot to tighten the Main Bolts on, (like two of our Brothers)
or one they forgot to put a ring on (like one of our Brothers)
or one of their many other "OOPS I FORGOT TO DO SOMETHING NIGHTMARE that causes the Motor to Blow (THEY HAVE MANY)

If you rather just buy a motor out of pocket
Can't beat the $ of Kar Kraft, but I'd get a built block from Johnny
or someone else for under 4k and do it right.

Why would you go back to stock>??? Take this as an oppurtunity to step up and go built! I know when my motor goes it is time to go built. -Mat-

Its nice to go built, but if Seidlers money is tight Id compromise and just put nicer rods in his motor.......I agree with Rob about the probability of your tune being off.....

You can buy a built short block for less than Ford wants for a short block. Karkraft wants over $3500 for a long block...

Yeah and with a tuner, you can only get a short block for $3500 if you are lucky. If ya ask me $3500 for a longblock is a damn good price. -Mat-

What I would like is a long block assy with decent rods and pistons. The best deal may be to either but a built short block and a set of stock heads or a long block assy and have rods and pistons put in it. I will have to see where the best deal is. If a tuner builds a motor from scratch I would want to make sure they have a good track record on building motors. It is hard top beat OEM assembly lines consistantly.

This may be a dumb Q, but what is the differance between a built short block and a built long block?

A long block consists of a short block, heads and cams. Whether they be upgraded head and cams is up the buyer. With the short block you get, a block crank, rods and pistons. The whole rotating assembly. -Mat-

Why when you can get a built short block for around $3500 and a set of 99+ heads for next to nothing?

$3500 for a stock long block is not a great deal for someone who just lost an engine due to modding.

A short block is without heads and a long block is with.

I didn't know anyone was giving away heads>??? Please tell them to send a pair my way, it would be greatly appreciated.

In all honesty if I just lost my motor and had no money I could either jump all over that long block for $3500, and have someone put some good rods in it and have it balanced. Then I could sell my USED heads and cams and hope to make up a decent amount of the price it cost me to swap the rods.

Or I could buy the short block swap my USED heads over and be done.

$3500 for a complete long block is a very good deal. -Mat-

I can get a BRAND NEW Lightning Long Block for $1900. I have been strongly thinking about buying that and building it up. I just really don't want to have to R&R my engine. That is all that is holding me back. -Mat-
