Track Results! 41 in IN

Well, was my first attempt @ the track. So don't laugh Wasn't to bad. I need to practice more with launch obviously. A lot tougher then it looks thats for sure. Lots of 'right combinations' needed.

I also think I broke something loose. Here is an exmplanation! Please help, I need to fix this asap! Going to virginia this next weekend to pick up my girlfriend from her sisters.

After my third pass, which was my best, coming back up the lane to get my ticket, i noticed a 'meshing' type sound, kind of like the blower but 'clankier'. Like a chainsaw chain or something. Weird, and hard to explain.

I gave it like half pedal, was in 2nd gear I think not going to fast coming up to the ticket boothe. I just half pedal'd it for lik ea second and let off, and then that same noise went. Like it was delayed from the rest of the engine. I cried! I was pissed off... but grinning cause it felt good to go over 100 *grin*..

I got on it a bit to see if somethign would break, or loss of power. Nope, ran strong. Mean, great. So I parked, popped the hood, looked. Nothing. I started it and checked with a flash light, everywhere. Trans pan, etc. Its coming from somehwere in the front compartment.

When in park, under the hood, I rev it manually from the throttle and you don't hear a thing. In fact, when in the truck parked, revving, or nutueral, nothing. So I drove it again and could hear it. Not as bad now. So I took it down the track one more time (everyone convinced me). And I babied it a lot. Ran 15 But it seemed like it got worse, but again, no loss of power anywhere.

Now it kind of sounds like a belt slipping (DELAYED SLIPPING). I gas it a bit (half pedal or so), boost goes up, engine goes up, then as that is coming down you can hear the 'slipping/meshy/clanky' noise. When you gas it up to like 5k or so you can hear it go with the engine then.

After taking a few friends for rides and letting them listen, they all think it has something to do with the blower. But strange it wont make the noise or do it when in park/nuetral. Anybody have any ideas? What do I take apart first? What to look for?

(Runs in Next Post)...

60' times I think are the 2nd set of 'ft ----' numbers. I have never read one of these before

And the long awaited results...

1st Attempt:
- First time EVER down the track! I learned quick *grin*
- 14.40 @ 99mph
- 60' @ 2.32

2nd Attempt:
- Got the hang of warming up a bit more and launching...
- Still slipped like he11
- 13.83 @ 102mph
- 60' @ 2.34

3rd Attempt:
- Best! I really warmed them up and it helped a lot
- Also 'broke' my truck this time (Not really broke)
- 13.40 @ 102mph
- 60' @ 1.96

4th Attempt:
- After truck made noise, decided to just take it down to see
- if I could tell better...I babied it a lot.
- I still whooped @ss on a thunderbird!
- 15.62 @ 81.36
- 60' @ 2.10

Wen I take this again, and now that I can launch much better, think I can hit at least 13.00s? Possibly high 12.90s? Is my truck capable?!@$!?!$

I don't have a clue what it could be. But you should be able to run a faster time. I run a 13.40 @ 103, 60' 2.00 with just a micro tuner and a Airforce One filter. Also 32lbs in the F1's. I would take it to a shop and have it looked at. What ever it is might start effecting something else.

Man with those posted times i thought u were stock. Then i saw your sig. something aint right. I ran a 13.6 the other day in hot weather pretty much stock with a 2.26 60 ft. You should be faster than that. Good luck. I hope you get it figured out.

Well, it was my first time @ the track. So I am hoping to get better at launches, warm ups, etc. =) First time down the strip, right after I warmed them up and I was lining up, i went way over the spot. I didn't know where to stop to get the tree to know i'm there *grin*

So I am hoping my bad driving is making the slow times. We'l see. But with the noise, someone said sounds like a baring loose or something loose in the blower itself. I barely noticed the noise today though. Magicaly going away? ... I don't think so. I will have a mech take a look soon. Very soon.

Could bad driving on my part, well not bad driving but bad launch contribute to the time?! Thanks!

Add one quick thing... could my truck being hot make it not perform in the high 12's or 13.00s? I drove all the way from chicagoland area to 41. Almost a hour drive. I got checked in, and then ran my three shots. So never once did it cool down. If that could cause a huge performance decrease, roughly how many .10ths do you think would of added on?! Thanks.

I ran twice the other night. 1st was hot right off a 2hr drive and i ran a 13.7 @100 with a 2.19 60 ft. I cooled down and ran a 13.6@102 with a 2.26 60 ft so it helps cooling down a little. A tenth with a worse 60 ft so.... have it looked at. Keep us posted. good luck.

DA was not good yesterday. High dew point and low barometer equals bad air....41 is iffy on traction also... With a little practice and better air you'll get some good ets...
