Question of the Day (Cold Air Kit)

Why is a cone filter, clamp, and plastic air dam $200+ when it is called a Cold Air Kit? Seems like that is about $50 in parts.

Don't get me started
It is 50.00 worth of parts for $200.00
Lets just say you can buy the filter for $35.00 and do the same thing.

Go right for a PSP or JLP Cool Air Induction WITH BOX
or do like I did and just buy the box from them and do it yourself.
AND YES I HAVE BOUGHT REPLACEMENT HI FLOW FILTERS FOR 35.00

Like this

Takes air in from "3" differant places,
Throught the Fender, through the inlet hose in front grill,
and from engine compartment

What do you mean Air Dam?

I used one 3" stainless steel 45 off the box,
one piece of 3" stainless steel x 24" (I think)
and one 3" stainless steel 90 for the AIR INTAKE

As for the box
Check with Johnny, but when I bought it, here was the deal

If you buy the 185.00 air kit, it has a hole in the bottom of the box, the hole is 3". That kit includes the box, filter, the lid and the new logo.
The cost is $185.00
The Box only is $150.00 (last time I checked with johnny)
So as I stated, you get the Hi Flow Filter for $35.00

I replaced a home made air box that I used 4"
flexible sewer pipe as an inlet. You can see it in the pic (black)
You can also see the 45, 90, and stainless pipe I used, (again I only needed one pcs of pipe) took the flexible stuff out cause I wanted a smooth inlet pipe for the air.

This is a weird angle that makes it look closer than it is to the tire. You can hardly see it, and has NEVER EVER hit.
The 4" did and as you can see I wanted no unnecessary turns in the inlet to upset the air flow

Works for me
