Transfer Case

Has anyone ever had a problem with your Transfer Case?

I have had my 03 SB L for only 3 weeks and have already had to have a new seatbelt installed (Was installed backwards) the soft tonneau cover comes off going down the freeway and had a transmission leak. Apparently the leak was from the Transfer Case?

I'm not anywhere near as mechanical as most of you guys so take it easy on me.

Do most Lightnings have these type problems or am I just lucky?

Thanks for your input.

You are very lucky if you have a transfer case. That might be the first AWD Lightning.

Hi there,

A transfer case usually only applies with 4wd vehicles. Maybe the guy meant your differential housing (the pumpkin on your rear axle).

What colour was the fluid?

Take care

I called the dealer and now he thinks he mis-spoke. He read "TRK Case." I saved his voice mail in case SVT wants to hear it.

So now I'm told that it is the Transmission Case. The L has only 260 miles on it and now I get a new case for the transmission. They told me they would also use all of the internal parts of my transmission. Dose that sound right?

There was RED oil on the floor of my garage; one guy told me it was transmission fluid.

FORD Quality is job 1 ?????

Dude i seriously doubt they will take a new case, and reuse all your internal tranny components. They will probably just do R&R, remove and replace with a new one.

Dont worry about the quality of the truck too much.. stuff like this happens.
