JDM Stage One installed

Got my JDM stage one kit from UPS today. I installed the filter kit, 90mm MAF ( its a 99), breather and chip and it started right up and sounded like it was running great. phew

So I headed out the driveway and noticed a big difference right away. I drove around a bit slow to make sure everything was ok and stopped to check the breather and filter and listen to the engine. All Good.

When I pulled out I got into it a little bit and yikes what a difference. It pulls like never before, the boost goes right up and it finally shifts the way it should. I don’t dare try the aggressive program since its set on street right now. Ill play with the street program for a couple days to get used to it. Plus it was wet out so any gas and the tire spun pretty easy.

So my thanks to Anthony@JDM for pulling everything together last week and Don for heading me in the right direction. I couldn’t be more happy and glad I didn’t just go with the hypertech programmer.

I still cant believe I just plugged a bunch of stuff in and this is what it gave me.

I created a new account and my new screenname is SpeedyMcQuicky and now I can finally add some mods to my sig as soon as its activated. I have a hour drive to work tomorrow morning so ill post more thoughts later.

Glad you are happy with your new found power! Boy I remeber those days. Truck was less then a week old, put on the air filter and installed the new chip. It was just like "Holy *****!" -Mat-

Mat, thats exactly what my roomate and I said at the same time when I pulled out of my driveway. ha Ill have to look out for the Extra padding in the headrest mod.

I got my first ticket in my L about a month ago. 41 in a 25, but I was 20 feet from a 35 mph sign and I actually was doing 25 coming around the corner. The cop said I should just fight it but I couldnt make the court date. damn work always gets in the way.

What a great ride to work this morning ( except for the rain and humidity ). I checked for codes halfway to work and no codes but when I got to work about 45 minutes later. I am seeing these 2 codes

P0171 System to lean Bank1
P0174 System to lean Bank2

I didnt see any codes last night after about 20 minutes of driving. I got into it a little bit after and thats when I think its tossing the codes. I just reset them and let it idle for a bit then went around the parking lot a few times and no codes yet. Ill take it out at lunch and see if they comeback.

I did a little searching and im going to go back and check the filter install since I replaced the rubber boot ( came with the stage one kit ) off the throttle body and there were 2 tubes and a vac connection on the bottom and make sure those are tight. im thinking when I get on it there is a vac leak and thats why im getting the codes.

Any other idea's?

Its running great and sounds great. The only other mod is the bassani cat back.

hmmm

those codes are generally associated with MAF problems. I have a 2000 with 90mm maf which my chip is programed for. I would first call JDM and have them check your program to make sure they programed it for the maf upgrade. Unfortunately, everyone makes mistakes......

I know this because whenever i sent my chip back for a reburn, i left my mods on and would take it slow, but generally whenever the rpms hit @2500, or accelerating on the highway to 55 or so, my check engine light would come on.

Check all the connections and try again. If it happenes, call JDM. Good luck.

Just talked with Anthony. Im going to double check the intake and try to figure out exactly when its happening. Guess ill have to do some testing at lunch...

He suggested I replace the breather and ill try that then take it from there. If not then a re-burn should fix it.

Ya
I bet they forgott to set up the chip for a breather, if so put the stock cap back on. If you need to reset the codes let me know.

Pulled the breather off and cleared the codes and all is well. Ill call JDM tommorow and see whats up.

2 hours and no code on both sides of the chip.

Its funny how its faster yet it takes me longer to drive home from work.

looks like they forgott to program the chip for the breather. Some trucks are more sensitive to that than others. I would just drive it till FFW and Jim will take care of it for you.

Even though it threw a lean code doesn't mean it was lean, if anything the computer richens up the air fuel when it throws those codes.

Talked with anthony this morning and JDM will tweek the chip at epping weekend after next.

Finally a dry ride to work this morning and man is this truck running awsome. I could spin the tires before but now you really have to be carefull and they are pretty new.

The SC whine is alot louder with the new filter. I have to say it goes very well with the sound of the basani. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.

Its been really hot, muggy and humid around here so I can only imagine once the weather cools of a bit.

Over and out!!!
