Question desperately seeking Greg Evans

Greg, I have one of your valve bodies in my 02 Lightning, It shifts good but I would like it to shift harder....I have a 2800 stall speed converter and was told that the converter is taking away from some of my shift hardness....I can feel the tranny shift under light throttle but it is barely noticeable untill wot.....and at wot it wont chirp tires like I like or put me back in my seat like my friends 01 L....Im getting ready to turn up the wick in hp on my truck to 22# boost and I need a nice hard shift because I dont want to burn clutches..do you have a valvebody that can help me out.....

:o <---- time for bed except I'm at work.

Do not cut the springs. This will make it shift softer. You can add a 3/8" pipe end to add more tension on the spring for harder shifts.

Shoot me an address and I'll get you a 2CR model, I don't build many of them, they sometimes shift pretty hard, but you can try it and we'll see if it works better for you. If it's too hard, I cna build you something in between, but it sounds like you need a race version.

Yeah, thanks Gregg....I ll try out the 2CR model...will that be a lot harder shifting.....I have a 2002 tranny if that makes a difference....I emailed you my address.....but do you think that the converter is the culprit..cause I used to chirp tires but since I put in your billett-mondo 2800 converter (which is the smoothest converter I ever owned)..It softened shifts up....

Gregg, If 2CR model shifts real hard , will that be allright on the street....I am more worried about durability than comfort....also I am going to change over to Royal Purple sythetic tranny fluid....would you recommend that....

I'll try to get it out in time for you. I don't like designer fluids, I just haven't been convinced they're worth the extra money. The converterr does make shifts feel softer, really they're not, the slip in the converter just makes it seem that way, but a stiffer accumulator will take up the slack, it'll be fine on the street. Are you sure you have my converter? The one REM sells is not mine, he changed suppliers on that, if you got it there.

I got the converter before REM changed suppliers a while back,Gregg.... It was the only billett converter they ever got from you and it was supposed to go in Tim Kaatz race Lightning, but I managed to sneak and pry it away from him...I also remember Tim saying that you said to throw anything you want at this converter , 1000hp even, you will never ever hurt it....I believe, I was the Last of the Mohicans that got your converter before REM changed over...

Ah, okay, now I know which one it is. That's a real nice converter, by the way, I remember building that one.
