Nitto drag radial vs et street...

I have been riding around for a week now with my et streets on cause I havent felt like taking them off and going back to the horrible traction I get on the street with f1's. It feels like a whole different truck with the slicks on the back. (I cant tell you how many races I would have won if I had these tires on!) It almost brings me back to stock, when you floored it, and you spin the tires off the line, but you hook a lot better stock than modded... (anyone get what im saying) I love the new found traction! But I cant drive around on the et streets! I dont like how they look on the spare tire rim, I dont want to have troubles driving in the rain, and I dont want to waste the tred on the slicks... So I am thinking about nitto 555r's. Can I get a comparison on them vs stock. And also vs my et streets I have on there now? I have heard very good things about the 555r's. Also what should I expect to pay for a pair of them. Thanks, Shane
I run the 555R's full time on the street and they are great. I can launch at almost full throttle on the street with my 4.10 gears on Nitto 555R's and get zero wheel spin as long as I leave at idle. If I stall it up at all then it will simply blow off the tires. I was not impressed with the Nitto's at first but that was before I added the JLP traction bars. Now I can pretty much launch WOT and it will pull right out. Of course this is without nitrous.
I have the 555R Drag Radials full time in the rear now and find my truck able to hook up much better then with F1's. My truck would chirp the F1's just by normal driving. Also they are much better in the rain. I just use my F1's in the front now.

Nitto DR's
I have the 305 drag radials, and they are night and day compared to the F-1's. I can still boil them through first & second if I just stomp on it. But by rolling into the throttle they will grab and hold where my F1's would just loose it. They are no drag slick, but they do work.

i have the 555's up front and the 555r's on back, im putting out over 500 TQ and they hook nicley, at night its a little tougher to get them to hook completly, but during the day, in this 90 degree weather they are like glue.
I've been using the Nitto drag radials all summer long. I'm very impressed with them. I personally feel they are as good if not better than the F1's. When it comes time for replacement, I plan on putting another set on.
It's also nice to drive to the track, do some runs, and then drive home. No muss, no fuss.

The D/R's for the L only come in one size:305/45/R18. My understanding is they were designed specifically for the L. I've been running them for over a year(not same set) and I love them. They are 100% more effective than a "normal" radial tire, and not as effective as an E/T Street or Full slick, but a good median. Just keep in mind that they are still a "radial" tire so don't lower the tire pressure as much as you would with your E/T streets it will only decrease the size of your "contact patch". I run around 30psi on the street and 25-26psi at the track. My only other word of advice is not to do burnouts in preparation for a stoplight war, just turn them over a couple times to clean them off and put a lil' heat in them. All out burnouts on the street will wear them out quick, fast, and in a HURRY. They are a much wiser alternative to run on the street as opposed to E/T streets or any biased ply tire for safety and handling reasons moreso than anything else. My best pass to date on the D/R's was a 1.79 60ft; 7.98 1/8mi @ 87.9mph and a 12.49 1/4 @ 109.4mph. Hope this helps.

Here is my opinion. Between last year and this year I put 15K miles on my nitto drag radials. They work well in rain and give much more traction than regular tires. Use et streets or quick time pro dots for limited street use and the track. I couldn't get the nittos to hook up at the track, but that is either because of poor track prep, too much horsepower, or pi 2600 stall torque converter.
I currently have just the regular nittos out back, but I should have purchased the R's instead.
