finally got a 1/4 mile time!!
finally got a 1/4 mile time!!
well, after all my troubles at the 1/8 mile here in jax. Fl, i decided it was time to go down to gainsville raceway and run it in the 1/4....since i still dont know how to post pictures on here...the timeslip looks like this.
R/T . . . . 185
60' . . . . 2.213
330 . . . . 5.893
1/8 . . . .8.894
MPH 81.78
1000ft . . . 11.491
1/4 . . . 13.704
MPH . . . 102.11
this is with a 2lb. upper pulley, diablo sport chip, volant cold air-intake, and shift kit... and running 1 or 2 gallons of 104 octane mixed with 93octane...
this was on my almost bald F1's..about 78 degrese, not sure how humid, but it was mostly clear...except for 5 min. of rain... i will be sure to run slicks, and some sort of free flowing exhaust and hope for mid-low 13's

Its all about your 60 foot man, get it below a 2 and your lookin at mid to low 13's easy. With your mods low 13's shouldn't even be a problem but it looks like its just your 60 foot time.
CONGRATS LEO
It is all about your 60 ft time, you need 1.8 or 1.9 on those F-1's, then you'll bring your ET down by as much as 6 or 7/10th's and you'll be knocking on the 12 sec door
Each 1/10 taken off the 60ft, will give you up to 2/10th off your ET.
YOU DID GOOD
YOU HAD FUN
AND NOTHING BROKE

Decent job,
Like these gus are saying. It's all in that 60ft. A 2.2 short time really is'nt that good IMO. Practice rolling into the throttle as quickly as you can with hardly any wheelspin.
Bone stock I was running 2.0s at a so-so track. I was able to launch off idle and roll into it pretty quick going WOT by the time I rolled 5-6ft.
Now-a-days with my mods I have to pedal it off the line like granny going to the grocery store! But I can still cut consistant 1.9s on the F1s.
WOT

LEO!
Thanks for checking back in Leo...
First off, forget the exhaust, for the eight-jillionth time. You will likely lose horsepower, run slower, and no longer be able to hear any rod-crushing detonation.
The slicks are fine, but you're just going to slapping a band-aid on some pizz-poor launch technique, in my opinion. Also, if you do decide to go that route, get a loop and traction device. Or you could spend that $450 on some Nittos or more go-fast parts. Some folks have run 11's on street tires, after all.
I should, before I forget, lay a big congrats on you for shaving a good second off your last effort and stacking 6 MPH or so on as well.
As for your slip, your 60-foot is still very, very pathetic. Particularly with your mods, I would consider anything over 2.100 to be very slow. This should be your prime focus. With a good launch, you would have run something like 13.5, which, considering your mods, isn't too good, frankly.
Your MPH is a big concern, also. I recall that you have a 2001 model. In that air, you should have run around 100-101 MPH. The fact that you only picked up 1-2 mph over a stocker in similar air (10-20 RWHP with a pulley and chip), continues to indicate to me that you have some sort of mechanical problem (you have a sick truck).
Please lay off the juice until you get everything else sorted.
Just my informed opinion, and I want to see you lay down some times, Chief.

I ran pretty much stock last night... No Chip, NO Pulley, just adn intake which does nothing in my opinion and no mufflers which also does nothing and i ran a 13.6 last night and a 13.7 hot off a 2 hour drive. The temp was near 80 and so was the humidity i believe. You should be quicker than that. On my 13.6 my 60 ft was a 2.25. I hope you get everything straight.

My 1st 12 was on F-1's and I cut a 1.90 60ft,
but I had a personal best on F-1's of 1.87 60 ft.
Slicks are the way to go at the track, my first time out I cut
back to back 1.6 60 ft's and never have had worse than 1.7 with my 28x10 Hoosiers

LMMFAO @ Vinny,
Belive me I thought about that.
He truly dusted me off the line every time and made it look
much worse, but yes your right, I don't think the numbers
could have gotten any closer than those.
It was actually a very interesting result and match up
comparing two TOTALLY differant set ups, with identical results.
Gator with the best of everything, "GREAT" Exhuast System, suspension work, better tires + rims, skinnys up front, elec fans, water pump, exchanger, iced cool downs, intercooler fan switch,
full bars, 6lbs lower, 1-2 upper, and more.
What was interesting was I ran only 4lbs of pulley for those two 12.0's and his extra 3-4 lbs of pulley along with the fan, pump, coolant, and other mods, made up for my 65 HP of Nitrous I was using that day. Even with me using Truck Trak bars and stock suspension against his awesome setup, I managed to match his number the entire way (other than him dusting me at the light)
I love Gators set up, really really nice, the hood, little spoiler, fiber carbon interior, sound and power along with the best mods makes that one bad *** L
This is him launching on me at cecil right here

We all know that the quicker you go, the harder it becomes to shave a little ET off and add MPH. Nitrous is a great mod to add gobs of power, especially on top of a supercharger. Assuming a 4700# truck with driver in both cases and your trap speeds, Gator is making roughly 35 hp more without nitrous than you with nitrous. I'm not pissed off or flaming, it just seems like you are saying that Gator's times aren't impressive with his combination.
Jeff: I guess you are right

NO NO NO I'm not saying that at all, you TOTALLY
mis-understood. I droul over Gators Beast all the time
and he's my Buddy. He CLEARLY has the faster truck.
What was very interesting about the numbers is that
the numbers are almost identical the whole way through
the run, he didn't have the advantage on me at any
"certain point". We had simular 60ft, 330's, 1/8, 1000,
and 1/4. (time after time)
Another words his setup (totally dif than mine) has no
big advantage over mine at any giving point of the run.
So although we both choice differant paths to those
numbers, the end result seems to be very simular.
Of course I choose the cheap easy path, but didn't do
it cause it was cheaper, but instead did it because I only
wanna stress the motor with the extra HP + Torque on
track day, and not 24/7 on the street. Schit without Juice
I run easy 12's on F-1's with a filter-chip-n-4lb pulley
+ T/b, thats plenty for me for a daily driver.
I have stock everything, two pulleys and a $500.00
juice kit, Gator has the best of everything. I wish I had
the time and money to do it right. I always call myself the underdog,
I'm the guy that drives to the track on his slicks,
runs pump gas, hot laps, runs the A/C in the staging lane
and always does very good considering. Gator took the
correct path and managed to run 11 after 11 after 11 in a
row that day, (whooping my *** each and every time he
raced. A good Exhuast prob cost more than every mod
on my truck. Whats Amazing
AND WHAT I WAS COMPARING TOO
is I feel that I accomplished great numbers with min Mods,
and what Cecil actually taught me, is that my juice can
make up for 3k worth of awesome mods, my slappers
can cut the same 60 as the best bars, my beat up slicks,
can keep up with the best of them.
And most important, the poor old man from NY managed
to stay right there with the BIG BOYS each step of the
way down the entire track with two total differant set
ups getting the identical results.
EDIT:
yysenhimer
I NEVER SAY ANYTHING ABOUT GATOR'S ET'S,
THEY'RE IMPRESSIVE AS HELL
I truly don't know how you could think I meant that
from what I said ??? It's the total opposite
